It's always hard to tell when a pomegranate is ripe, because even though you have a brilliant crimson shell on the outside, the seeds want to enjoy are still a sour, pale green.

Every member of our staff and so many of our lay leaders are hard at work preparing for an inspiring, meaningful, and restorative High Holy Day season, and we are excited to welcome a brand new year with our amazing community. We hope that you'll join Rabbi Bearman and Zemer Lexie one week from today for Erev Rosh Hashanah!

Today's piece is from Fritz Eichenberg, a Jewish German artist from the early 20th century who fled from his home in 1933 and lived in America, sharing his love for and knowledge of art as a teacher in New York. This particular piece highlights his skill by forming the visage of a wise man out of a collage of animals, a child, and flowers.
