Obituary for Clora Fern Justvig
Clora Fern (née Baskett) Justvig, 83, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, leaving behind a family who will deeply miss her love, creativity, generosity, and unwavering support.
Clora was born on June 18, 1943, in Missouri, to William and Dorothy (née Oldham) Baskett. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas, and later earned her Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Gateway Technical College.
Clora married the love of her life, the late Albert Justvig, on July 2, 1961, in Kansas City, Kansas. Together, they built a life centered around family, and throughout her life, Clora found her greatest happiness in caring for the people she loved.
For many years, Clora worked as an administrative assistant for Racine Unified School District. She also had a heart for serving others. As a longtime member and volunteer at the Salvation Army Centennial Church in Oak Creek, Clora regularly helped prepare and serve meals through the church’s Wednesday evening community meal program. She enjoyed being part of an effort that brought people together around a warm meal and a welcoming table.
Clora also shared her time and talents with the Racine Theatre Guild. A gifted seamstress, she often helped sew costumes for productions and volunteered as an usher for P***y Plays. Her love of theater was made even more meaningful by contributing behind the scenes and supporting the performances and people who brought the stage to life.
Creativity was an important part of Clora’s life. She loved painting, drawing, reading, and sewing. She was an especially talented seamstress and lovingly made all kinds of clothing for her children over the years, from everyday T-shirts to beautiful prom dresses. She had a wonderful ability to create something special with her own hands, particularly when it was for someone she loved.
More than anything, however, Clora showed her love by showing up.
She was one of her family’s greatest supporters and could always be counted on to lend a hand or cheer them on. If someone needed pies baked for a bake sale, Clora baked pies. If a grandchild had a Little League game, she was there cheering from the sidelines. Over the years, she attended countless plays, concerts, performances, games, celebrations, and special events for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whatever her family was doing, Clora wanted to be a part of it.
She took tremendous pride in the accomplishments of the people she loved, whether the occasion was big or small. Her family knew they could look out into the audience, toward the sidelines, or around the room and very often find Clora there, proud, supportive, and ready to help in whatever way she could.
Clora will be deeply missed by her children, Penny Justvig, Kandi (James) Bouwma, Wesley (Shannaki) Justvig, and Sheila (Ryan) Simonsen; her grandchildren, Joshua Johnson, Dustin (Karon) Bouwma, Andrew (Leah) Bouwma, Samantha Bouwma, Rory (Hollace) Graves, Hannah Vitacco, Jared (Anna Li) Simonsen, Kyle Simonsen, and Loghan Simonsen; her 10 great-grandchildren; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Clora is reunited with her husband, Albert Justvig; her parents, William and Dorothy Baskett; her stepfather, William Morris; and her siblings, Carol and Allen.
A memorial service honoring Clora’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Sturino Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Clora’s memory to the Salvation Army Centennial Church in Oak Creek or the Racine Theatre Guild.
Clora leaves behind a legacy that can be found in so many places: in the meals she helped serve, the costumes she stitched, the clothes she lovingly made, the pies she baked, and the many performances and games where she sat proudly watching someone she loved. Most of all, her legacy lives on in the family she spent a lifetime loving, encouraging, and caring for.
For Clora, love was something you did. You showed up. You helped. You cheered. You cared. And those who were fortunate enough to be loved by her will carry that love with them always.
