Did You Know? (National Salvation Army Week Edition)

Did you know that The Salvation Army is more than a food pantry, thrift store, or the iconic red kettles you see during the holiday season?

Year-round, The Salvation Army is living out its God-given mission to "preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination."

Through emotional and spiritual care, case management, emergency assistance, youth and family programs, and practical life support, we walk alongside individuals and families offering hope, love, dignity, and path toward stability when its needed most.

See below to learn more about the History of The Salvation Army.

Honoring the legacy, the mission, and the hearts behind the shield ❤️

“Heart to God and Hand to Man” ❤️ Thank you for being part of the mission and helping transform communities through love in action.

Did You Know? (National Salvation Army Week Edition)

Did you know that The Salvation Army actively engages in the fight against food insecurity every day? Resources are available for families, youth ,and seniors to ensure their physical needs are met and that no one goes without vital nutritional support.

In Racine, The Salvation Army operates a variety of programs to meet these needs, including a weekly food pantry, the Healthy Kids Diner, Weekend Food Sacks for youth, and ADRC/Meals on Wheels service for seniors. Through these efforts, we are committed to nourishing our community, strengthening families, and ensuring that everyone has equal access to healthy, nutritional foods.

Happy National Salvation Army Week!

This week, we celebrate the life-changing work of The Salvation Army and the powerful impact it continues to have in communities across the country.

Here at the Racine Corps, we pause to recognize and honor the dedicated officers, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners who faithfully support our mission every single day. Because of you, hope is shared, lives are transformed, and compassion is put into action.

We also extend a heartfelt word of appreciation to all who have supported the Racine Corps since its founding in 1890. Your legacy of generosity and service has built a foundation that continues to uplift and strengthen our community today.

Since 1954, National Salvation Army Week has served as a reminder of the important role The Salvation Army plays in communities across the country.

This week, we recognize the dedicated officers, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners who make this mission possible — helping meet human needs without discrimination and bringing hope to neighbors in every season.

Last week, The Salvation Army received a generous donation from Apple Holler and their Picked for a Purpose fundraiser.

We are incredible grateful for local businesses and organizations who continue to support our efforts in meeting the various needs of our community— through food insecurity, case management services, emergency/housing assistance, spiritual and emotional care, and more.

Thank you Apple Holler for this wonderful donation and for your support of The Salvation Army Racine.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Captain Williams from the The Salvation Army Racine Corps to Apple Holler to pick up their Picked for a Purpose donation from the month of February.

Thanks to the incredible support of our guests, every pre-packed bag of apples purchased helped raise funds that will go toward assisting people in need in our community and supporting efforts to fight homelessness. We’re so grateful to everyone who participated and helped make a difference! 🍎

As we move into March, our Picked for a Purpose recipient is the Healthcare Network of Racine. Remember, $1 from every pre-packed bag of apples purchased goes directly toward supporting the cause.

If you’d like to take part this month, we currently have Honeycrisp and Cameo apples available. Every bag purchased helps support important work happening right here in our community!
