Worship Tomorrow at at 8:00am & 10:45am; no Monday service

Lutherans note that the most important truths revealed in the Bible are not "self-evident" at all. In fact, they frequently appear surprising or even contrary to human expectations. Scripture teaches that humanity is not naturally good but deeply sinful. it declares that salvation cannot be achieved through human effort but comes entirely by God's grace. Most unexpected is the message that God brings forgiveness and eternal life through the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. Biblical truth is revealed by God rather than discovered by reason alone. While some truths may seem obvious to human judgment, the truths of the Bible are often unexpected. This week's unexpected truth we will examine is: I Am My Brother's Keeper.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
(Hebrews 11:1)

The Bible says Christians are different. Christians are people who believe in Jesus as their Savior. But they often look the same as those who do not believe in Jesus. How are Christians different? The answer is often something internal, attitudes or perspectives that come only from the work of the Holy Spirit in Word and sacrament. Ultimately, Christians are people who run to Christ for forgiveness because they have failed to live perfect lives. As we receive the mercy of Christ, it moves us to strive with all our being to do all the things that Jesus says Christians do, things that make Christians different. On Sunday, we will see that Christians Answer Doubt with Faith.
