PUT YOUR NATURE ON A DIET OF TRUTH

The Word of God does more than change difficult situations; it can change the wrong tendencies operating within you. Some believers keep confessing, “I am short-tempered,” “I am naturally impatient,” “I cannot control my desires,” or “That is simply the way I am.” They speak as though an ungodly disposition is a permanent part of their identity. But there is nothing you are dealing with in your nature that the Word cannot handle. When you gave your life to Christ, you received the nature of God. Therefore, anything in your conduct that contradicts Christ is not something you should excuse or protect; it is something you must bring under the sanctifying power of truth. Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth (John 17:17 KJV).” The Word can purge what is impure, straighten what has become crooked, and cultivate the nature of Christ within you.

If you are struggling with immorality, put yourself on a diet of purity from the Word. Find Scriptures that reveal God’s standard for your body, thoughts, and relationships. Read them, meditate upon them, confess them, and obey them continually. If stinginess has a hold upon you, search for Scriptures concerning God’s generosity and the grace of giving. If anger controls you, feed upon the portions of Scripture that reveal meekness, patience, self-control, and the character of Christ. Do not read casually and move on. Take the Word as medicine and remain on the prescription until the wrong nature loses its grip. A person who was once quick-tempered can become calm and meek. An impatient person can develop endurance. A selfish person can become generous. Truth is not powerless information; it is spiritual substance carrying the nature and life of God into the believer who receives it.

Let the Word grow in your spirit until the culture of God’s Kingdom becomes stronger than the patterns you inherited from your family, environment, or past life. Do not excuse fleshly behaviour by saying, “That is how people from my background behave,” or, “Everyone in my family is like this.” Your new birth has brought you into another family, and God’s Word reveals its nature. However, transformation requires more than quoting a verse occasionally. You must remain with the truth, submit to its correction, and practise what it demands. The devil attacks the Word because he knows it is the core of your light and Christian strength. He wants you to believe that change is impossible so that you will tolerate what Christ died to deliver you from. Refuse that lie. Identify the wrong tendency, locate God’s prescription, and stay faithfully on the diet of truth. As the Word enters, light will increase, your conscience will become sharper, and the nature of Christ will become increasingly evident in your daily life.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: What negative trait have I wrongly accepted as part of my identity? Which Scriptures must I consistently receive and practise until Christ’s nature replaces it?

PRAYER: Father, sanctify me through Your truth. Let Your Word purge every ungodly tendency and cultivate the character and nature of Christ within me in Jesus’ name.

KEEP STRIKING THE ROCK

The Word of God is final authority, and every time you release it against a contrary situation, something happens. You may not see an immediate outward change, but that does not mean the Word has failed. When geologists want to break a rock, they strike it repeatedly. After the first blows, the rock may still look unchanged on the surface, yet each strike weakens its internal structure. Eventually, what appeared immovable breaks apart. The same principle applies when you speak God’s Word over the works of darkness. Every declaration of truth strikes at the foundation of the enemy’s operation. The problem is that many believers stop because the situation still looks strong. They say, “I have prayed, but nothing has happened,” without realising that unseen weakening has already begun. Never use your natural eyes alone to judge whether the Word of God is working.

The devil will often intensify appearances to make you doubt the efficacy of the Word of God. He may laugh through stubborn symptoms, delayed answers, mounting pressure, or repeated contradictions. His purpose is to persuade you that your confession is useless and that the situation has more authority than God. Do not believe him. Satan is a liar even when his performance appears convincing. There was a man of God who confronted an evil manifestation and kept rebuking it in the name of Jesus. Instead of disappearing immediately, the spirit laughed more loudly, attempting to create the impression that the Word was powerless. The Holy Spirit instructed him not to stop, because the laughter itself was a lie. He continued declaring the Word, and shortly afterwards the spirit fled in terror. What appeared to be resistance was actually the enemy’s desperate attempt to make him withdraw before victory became visible.

Never let the Word of God depart from your mouth because circumstances appear unchanged. Jesus lives in you, and He is the Head of all principality and power. Do not panic when the enemy is at work; take your authority and keep releasing the truth. Persistence is not an attempt to persuade God to act. It is the refusal to surrender your agreement with what He has already said. Each time you speak, remain conscious that God’s Word is spirit and life, not empty religious language. Refuse to strengthen the contradiction by declaring defeat after you have prayed. Do not rebuild with unbelieving words what the Word has been pulling down. Keep striking the rock. Keep addressing the symptoms, fear, lack, oppression, and resistance with relevant Scriptures. Stand in the even place, where your mouth agrees with God, even under pressure. One more declaration may be the blow after which the long-standing contradiction finally collapses. Do not stop speaking until the truth becomes visible.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Have I stopped declaring God’s Word because nothing appears to be changing? Am I strengthening the contradiction through impatient or unbelieving words?

PRAYER: Father, strengthen me to remain steadfast in declaring Your Word. Help me not to judge by appearances or withdraw before the victory becomes visible in Jesus’ name.

YOUR EXPERIENCE IS NOT THE TRUTH

There is a difference between what you are experiencing and what God has declared to be true. Your experience may be real, painful, and supported by visible evidence, but it is not necessarily the truth that God has ordained for your life. Imagine a parent whose child has not returned from school several hours after the expected time. The telephone is unreachable, friends have no information, and fearful thoughts begin to flood the mind. The anxiety and physical reactions are real, but they may be built entirely upon imaginations that are not true. When the child eventually returns safely with a reasonable explanation, the parent discovers that hours of torment were produced by false expectations. In the same way, the devil can use symptoms, delays, and incomplete information to construct a frightening story in your mind. Do not surrender to a conclusion merely because your feelings agree with it.

When God called Abraham the father of many nations, everything in his physical experience appeared to contradict that word. His body was old, Sarah’s womb was barren, and natural possibility had disappeared. Yet God was not lying; He was declaring the truth that would eventually become their visible reality. Abraham had to decide whether physical manifestation or the Word of God would have the final voice. You must make that same decision. If God says that by the stripes of Jesus you were healed, an aching body must not be permitted to cancel that truth. If God says He will supply your need, temporary lack must not redefine Him as an unfaithful Father. This does not mean you pretend that symptoms, bills, or challenges do not exist. It means you refuse to promote a contrary experience above the authority of God’s Word.

Always judge the Word of God to be true over your life. The devil will tell you that what God said cannot happen, that your condition is permanent, or that your obedience has produced nothing. His lies are designed to make you agree with the contradiction and withdraw from your position of faith. Do not cooperate with him. Search the Scriptures until you know what God has said concerning the matter, then bring your thoughts, words, and expectations into agreement with it. Reject fearful imaginations before they develop into inward convictions. Speak the truth of God without denying responsible action, and refuse to make permanent conclusions from temporary conditions. Some people live and die experiencing the enemy’s lies because they never insist upon what God has spoken. You must be different. Stand in the even place of agreement with God. The truth may first exist only in His promise, but as you remain persuaded, it will ultimately become your testimony and visible experience.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Have I mistaken a temporary experience for God’s final verdict? What contrary circumstance must I bring under the authority of His Word?

PRAYER: Father, teach me to judge Your Word faithful and true above every contrary experience. Deliver me from fearful conclusions and establish my heart in Your promises in Jesus’ name.

YOU MAY LOSE FACE, BUT PRESERVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

One of the strongest tests of your commitment to truth comes when telling the truth will make you lose face before people. It is easy to be truthful when the facts favour you, but what happens when honesty exposes your mistake, weakness, exaggeration, or carelessness? Some people have preserved their reputation before men but lost touch with God. They would rather maintain a false impression than admit that what they said was inaccurate. Yet the Word of God is truth, Jesus is the Truth, and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. If your conscience is still alive, the Holy Spirit will convict you whenever you lie or give a misleading impression. At that moment, you must choose whether to protect your image or preserve your fellowship with God. It is better to be temporarily embarrassed before men than to become misaligned with heaven.

There was an occasion when someone travelled back across town simply to correct an impression he had given several hours earlier. What he said was not an outright lie, but it did not convey the exact truth. The matter could easily have been ignored, and those who heard him might never have questioned it. Nevertheless, his conscience would not permit him to leave it uncorrected. That is how the Spirit of Truth works in a person who genuinely wants to walk with God. He will not tolerate an outright lie, a wrong impression, a half-truth, or any deliberate bending of facts. When you decide not to tolerate falsehood within you, your spirit becomes aligned with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. From that alignment comes clearer communication, stronger spiritual sensitivity, and greater access to the help that the Holy Spirit has been sent to bring into your life.

We cheat ourselves whenever we abound in lies. The degree to which you tolerate falsehood is the degree to which the Holy Spirit’s operations in communication, power, and help become hindered in your life. Therefore, if a lie is still hanging, go back and correct it. If you submitted an inaccurate report, amend it. If you exaggerated an achievement, withdraw the exaggeration. If you allowed somebody to praise you based on a false impression, state the truth. You may lose face, but you will keep God. Do not say, “It is too late,” or, “The matter is too small.” Truth is never too small for the Spirit of Truth. Each correction strengthens your conscience and restores straightness to your walk. The embarrassment will pass, but the spiritual gain will remain. God can help a person who humbles himself and admits the truth, but the man who covers falsehood continues to stand in an uneven place. Choose fellowship above reputation and truth above appearance.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Is there any wrong impression or inaccurate statement I need to correct? Am I protecting my reputation at the expense of fellowship with God?

PRAYER: Father, give me the humility and courage to correct every false impression. Help me to choose truth above reputation and preserve my fellowship with You in Jesus’ name.

THE ROAD MAKES THE MAN

One dangerous desire that can corrupt a person’s conscience is the desire to succeed without righteous suffering. God is not against your success, but He is concerned about how you get there. The world celebrates destinations, possessions, titles, certificates, and public achievements, but God also examines the road a person travelled. Many people want sudden wealth, influence, promotion, or recognition without submitting themselves to legitimate work and gradual preparation. They want to hit the jackpot rather than build patiently. When this desire enters the heart, conscience becomes vulnerable because the person begins to consider actions he would once have rejected. The devil may tell you, “Just get there; don’t worry about how.” But God wants to know how you got there. If you abandon truth, integrity, and righteousness in pursuit of a good destination, what you obtain will not be God’s definition of success.

The same intelligence that could create valuable solutions can be corrupted and used for fraud because somebody wants results without process. Criminal activity often requires planning, skill, and persistence, but those abilities have been diverted because the individual is unwilling to submit to righteous labour. Anytime you want to succeed without righteous suffering, you are moving towards criminality, even if society gives your method a respectable name. You may manipulate figures, deceive customers, falsify qualifications, exploit relationships, or use ungodly methods in ministry because you want quickly what process would have prepared you to receive properly. Yet even when you get it, you may not have the character or capacity to manage it. It is the road that makes the man, not merely the destination. God uses waiting, work, correction, and faithful service to build inside you what the blessing will require from you.

Joseph could have treated Potiphar’s wife as a shortcut to comfort and influence, but his conscience would not permit him to sin against God. He walked away from an apparent advantage and temporarily entered prison, yet that righteous road eventually brought him to the palace. Your faith is revealed not only by what you pursue but also by what you refuse. There must be things you cannot trade away for money, recognition, pleasure, or speed. God performs miracles, but He does not perform magic. He does not give you a testimony whose process you are ashamed to explain. Therefore, monitor your conscience whenever an opportunity appears unusually easy. Ask whether truth is being sacrificed, whether another person is being exploited, and whether God can openly identify with the method. Build your life, family, ministry, and career through new decisions of integrity. Do not envy those who seem to have arrived through crooked paths. Stay in the even place, accept God’s process, and let Him make you into the kind of person who can carry enduring success without losing his soul.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Am I pursuing any result through a method that God cannot approve? What righteous process am I tempted to avoid because I want quicker success?

PRAYER: Father, deliver me from ungodly shortcuts and impatience. Help me to embrace Your process and build every area of my life with truth, diligence, and an undefiled conscience in Jesus’ name.

YOU MUST BE SENDABLE

There is a cup of righteous suffering that every person who will fulfil destiny must be willing to drink. This is not the suffering that comes from sin or disobedience; it is the discipline, denial, service, and preparation that belong to the road God has chosen for you. Many people desire the anointing, influence, prosperity, and honour that God can give, but they do not want the process that prepares a man to carry them. If God’s counsel is that a young person will become great, the years between the promise and its fulfilment are not wasted years. They may include working under others, being sent on errands, learning details, accepting correction, and denying yourself certain comforts. Those years are part of the cup. Your conscience must remain alive enough to tell you when you are dodging the process that God has arranged for your making.

The spirit with which you serve is as important as the service itself. You can be working outwardly while your heart is still occupied with yourself, your recognition, and what you think you deserve. Ministry is not about making yourself the focus; it is about faithfully serving the purpose of God in another person’s life. There is a season in which you are not the one sending people; you are the one to be sent. Elisha poured water on the hands of Elijah before he carried the mantle. Jesus Himself was sent by the Father, and the Holy Ghost came as the Sent One. Therefore, being sent is not a reduction of your worth. It is a training ground. Once you become too important to be sent, corrected, or instructed, you are becoming unavailable for the dealings that precede greater usefulness. You must be sendable if you will become anointable. Every assignment should help you become more of what God has in mind for you.

Do not call every difficult instruction cheating, maltreatment, or delay. Let your conscience examine whether you are refusing legitimate sacrifice because you prefer comfort. In every profession, people go through training under those who have gone ahead: doctors undergo housemanship, lawyers learn in chambers, and young professionals acquire wisdom from experienced hands. Information without experience can make a person confident but unprepared. Fathers take you further because their instructions expose you to roads you have not travelled. If prayer, service, diligence, submission, or patient learning is part of your preparation, do not dodge it and then expect the weight of divine enablement. Drink your cup faithfully without bitterness, eye-service, or secret rebellion. The road is building capacity, character, judgment, and endurance inside you. When greater responsibility comes, you will discover that the righteous suffering you embraced was not designed to diminish you; it was God’s way of preparing you to carry what He had prepared for you.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Am I faithfully drinking the cup of preparation assigned to me? Has pride or the love of comfort made it difficult for me to be sent, to teach, or correct?

PRAYER: Father, give me the right spirit towards service and preparation. Make me humble, faithful, and sendable, and help me embrace every righteous process required for my destiny in Jesus’ name.

CONSCIENCE IS AN INNER ALARM

Your conscience is not only for telling you that a thing is right or wrong; it is also one of the ways your spirit man alerts you to danger. The same inward standard that reacts when you tell a lie is also connected to your sensitivity when the Holy Spirit is warning you that something is not right. That is why a believer must not play with falsehood. Every time you silence the voice of conscience, you are not only weakening your moral judgment; you are also disturbing a spiritual alarm system that God placed inside you for safety. Many people want to receive divine leading, accurate warnings, and timely signals from God, but they keep adjusting the same instrument through which those signals are to register. If the candle of the Lord inside a man is dimmed, he may walk into danger and still feel normal.

There is a “health standard setting” and “danger standard setting” in the conscience. When a Christian lies, compromises, excuses wrong, or keeps overriding the inward witness, he is shifting the setting of his conscience. Then, when the Holy Spirit is saying, “Something is wrong,” the signal may no longer be clear enough for him to recognise. This is why some believers miss God and later say, “I thought it was God.” If they are honest, they will admit that they were already thinking in that direction and only wanted a spiritual confirmation for their own desire. A conscience that has been adjusted away from truth can mistake personal desire for divine direction. Truth is the foundation of Christianity. The devil, on the other hand, is defined by falsehood; Jesus called him a liar from the beginning. Therefore, when a believer becomes comfortable with lies, exaggeration, manipulation, or pretence, he is stepping into the zone where Satan’s language becomes familiar to him.

If you will stay spiritually healthy, let your conscience deal first with you and with God. Don’t wait for people to correct you before you correct yourself. Don’t wait until a matter becomes public before you repent. The Holy Spirit may speak to you over what others consider a small, sharp tone, a wrong motive, an exaggerated statement, or an inward attitude that is not right. When He does, obey quickly. You don’t kill the conscience in one day; you silence it gradually each time it disturbs you, and you refuse to respond. Keep your inner alarm alive. Let truth be truth to you, even when nobody is watching. Let your conscience remain close to God’s standard, because the man who can hear correction clearly can also hear warning clearly. A conscience trained by truth will not only keep you clean; it will help keep you safe.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Is my inner alarm still clear when God is warning me? Have I weakened my sensitivity by repeatedly silencing my conscience?

PRAYER: Lord, keep my conscience alive to truth and sensitive to Your warnings. Deliver me from falsehood, excuses, and every habit that dulls my inner witness in Jesus’ name.

WHEN YOUR CONSCIENCE STILL CORRECTS YOU

One of the clearest evidence that a man has truly met the Lord is what begins to happen inside him when he does what he used to do before. At the new birth, God does not only forgive your sins; He also awakens and restores your conscience. Things you once did carelessly begin to trouble you. Words you spoke freely begin to bite you inside. Places you entered without concern begin to feel wrong. That inner reaction is not condemnation; it is the mercy of God showing you that your inward standard has been brought back towards His truth. If a person says, “Everything I used to do before I was born again, I still do it, and I am okay,” then that person must check his salvation carefully. The discerner is not just the confession of the mouth, but what is happening inside when the life contradicts the Word.

There is a factory setting that God restores in the conscience when a man is born again. That setting makes the conscience separate right from wrong according to the light of God that has entered the spirit. But you must maintain it. Every time you do wrong and refuse correction, something is being pulled away from God’s standard. Every time you tell a lie and silence the discomfort, you are teaching your conscience to accept falsehood. Every time you disobey the Word and justify it, you are creating a new allowance for evil. But when you respond to that inward witness and correct yourself, you bring the conscience back towards God’s standard. That is why it is precious when a person returns after a conversation and says, “What I told you yesterday was not exactly correct.” Such a person may have made a mistake, but the conscience is still alive and working.

Don’t be ashamed when your conscience troubles you; be afraid when it stops troubling you. A living conscience will not allow you to rest comfortably in falsehood. It may disturb you in the night, interrupt your peace, or make you return to correct what you said wrongly. That is spiritual health. The devil wants you to become used to what is wrong until you no longer feel the pull of truth. God wants you tender enough to respond quickly. Therefore, never argue with the inward witness when it is calling you back to truth. If you lied, correct it. If you exaggerated, withdraw it. If you deceived someone, go back and make it right. If your peace is gone after an action, don’t cover it with religious language. Let God set your conscience again. A Christian with a living conscience may stumble and rise, but a Christian who has silenced his conscience is walking towards danger without an alarm.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Do I still respond when my conscience corrects me? What truth must I go back and set right before God and man?

PRAYER: Lord, keep my conscience tender and responsive. Give me the humility to correct my wrongs quickly and return to Your standard whenever Your Spirit convicts me in Jesus’ name.
