Powells Point Baptist Church We are a Bible believing church seeking to be a powerful and positive influence in the community.

Powells Point was originally organized in 1801 as the Powells Point Missionary Baptist Church and was part of the newly organized Chowan Baptist Association. It's mission has been to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our community and our world. Located on the mainland side of the Outer Banks, our outreach has been much greater than our local community. Many visitors to the Outer Banks have ma

[Matthew 7:1-2 NKJV] "1 "Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 "For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you."

Matthew chapter 7 is the third and final chapter of Jesus' Sermon On The Mount. Have you ever wondered what Jesus meant by this teaching about judging one another? That is what we will talk about tomorrow @ 11am. I will give you one little hint - the opposite of judgment is mercy and forgiveness. Come and join us we see what Jesus has to say to us.

[Matthew 6:22-24 NKJV] "22 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 "But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great [is] that darkness! 24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."

The Scripture above is the Scripture for the message tomorrow @ 11am. What does Jesus mean by the light in contrast to the darkness? What does Jesus mean by either having a good eye or a bad eye? What does any of that have to do with having two masters? The title of tomorrow's message is, " Two Masters - Either Light or Darkness."
