Powells Point Baptist Church We are a Bible believing church seeking to be a powerful and positive influence in the community.

Powells Point was originally organized in 1801 as the Powells Point Missionary Baptist Church and was part of the newly organized Chowan Baptist Association. It's mission has been to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our community and our world. Located on the mainland side of the Outer Banks, our outreach has been much greater than our local community. Many visitors to the Outer Banks have ma

"38 "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' 39 "But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also." [Matthew 5:38-39 NKJV].

We continue to study Jesus' "Sermon On The Mount." Here Jesus addresses what the world calls the "Law of Retaliation." We will take a look at what God's Law actually says. And, here, Jesus gives us very practical teaching for living righteously in everyday life. He teaches us not to retaliate when we are faced with evil, pain, and injury. Jesus teaches us what to do when we cause our neighbor to incur loss or expense. He teaches us about being model citizens in our country. Jesus also teaches the His church should be generous people meeting the needs of others.

Why don't you come and join us tomorrow @ 11am. It would be a great thing to go to church with Dad - my boys and grandchildren are coming to be with me!!

"34 "But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne; 35 "nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 "Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 "But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one." [Matthew 5:34-37 NKJV].

Jesus specifically addresses our speech here. What Jesus is talking about here is what we call integrity. Does our talk match our walk? Does our walk match our talk? And, what we must ask ourselves is, does our talk and walk line up with the righteousness of God's Law? Does our living match up to the name we are called and who we belong to as Jesus' church? Come and join us tomorrow @ 11am and let us see what God's Word has to say to us.
