In view of the wonderful grace of God and knowing how it has worked in my life, how can anyone reject believing in the one and only loving God of Heaven. The evidence is all around us. God’s love has given us a way to avoid being punished eternally in Hell. His great love provides for us the necessary ingrediencies for life on this earth. Not only these things, but He has also given us a means by which we will have an eternal home with Him in Heaven.

The last thing I mentioned previously in this article creates a large problem for many today. It is taught in the Scriptures that true salvation found in the inspired Scriptures comes by our obedience to God’s words. The devil has clouded the minds of many to the point they do not grasp this part of God’s teaching. Yes, it is true that salvation is free. However, does this suggest that we do not need to do anything to be saved. We are taught that, “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” (John 3:36) Then we find this, “And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,” (Hebrews 5:9)

God is not alone in His love for humanity. Along with God the Father, God the Son and, God the Holy Spirit we are told of Angels and their work for God. “Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.” (Matthew 4:11) God’s love for His creation is so great that He has provided Angels as a means of comfort and spiritual strength for you and I. Again, there is misunderstanding about the work of Angels as it pertains to our salvation. While it is true that God used Angels to give His Word to humanity in the past. The question is does God send Angels to certain individuals today as a means of inspiring those persons to obey God. Furthermore, those who claim a direct communication with God through an Angel often teach that which is against the true Gospel taught in the Bible, particularly in the New Testament.

The church of Christ in Pound, VA, extends an invitation to all, welcoming everyone to our services. We meet on Sunday mornings at 10 am for Bible Classes. The adult Bible class is studying the book of Romans and will start in chapter 6 at verse 15. Then, at 11 am, we gather in our auditorium for a collective worship service. At this time, there will be a sermon titled THE AMAZING GRACE OF GOD. Then, at 4 pm, we meet for our second service. There will be a sermon at this time, titled ANGELS. We also meet at our building on Wednesdays at 7 pm for Bible Classes.

We are presently making the effort to post our sermons on YouTube as well as Facebook. To do live broadcasts on YouTube, the church needs 50 subscribers. All you need to do is go to YouTube, then go to Pound church of Christ, when you go to our page, you will see a button to subscribe. We hope to get this worked out soon. THIS INVITATION IS FOR YOU!

If we follow Jesus, the devil is our enemy. The Bible reveals that from the beginning the devil has done all he can to destroy God’s crowning glory, which is the creation of humanity in His image. The devil is a cunning creature. He uses our natural desires as a means of tempting us. Those things that appeal to us are the ways the devil will get us to sin. In Luke 4:1-13, we read of the devil’s temptations of Jesus at this time.

Why would we study about how the devil tempted Jesus? The reason for a lesson like this is that, while upon the earth, Jesus took on the body of flesh and could be tempted. As we study how Jesus dealt with His temptations will strengthen us so that we can be successful in resisting sin when tempted.

One thing that Christians are to do is to be negligent of their responsibility to be influential to the non-Christian. One thing that we as humans do is expect others to do things that we should be doing. There are ways that we justify this type of thinking. For example, when challenged to introduce their co-workers, friends, neighbors, and family to salvation through Jesus, they will say, “That is what we pay the preacher to do.” We do not lessen the responsibility of the man who takes on this magnificent work. What we hope to do is to show from Scripture that every Christian has the ability and is commanded to be an influence on those you meet throughout your life.

All Christians have a job to do. This is an area where he has done his dirty work. There are congregations of Christians which are in decline. The sad thing is that souls will be lost. We understand that there is different work to be done. That is why there are elders, evangelists, and Bible class teachers. Although one may not be able to serve in one of those areas, there are things they can and should do to increase the number of saved.

08-23-26 AM - CHRISTIANITY EQUALS NO COMPROMISE - Glen Young - Pound, VA

In our society, we have a point of view that is called multiculturalism. This is the practice of embracing all the cultural differences of our citizens. The reason for this point of view is for the purpose of keeping peace within our country. This is fine as far as it goes. There is nothing wrong with keeping peace as we live and work together. The reason for this is that we all reserve some of our heritage for personal practices.

This does not weaken a society but establishes strength for society. The reason for this is because this is of a personal nature. This strength is seen in the power of society to work together for the purposes of protection and prosperity.

However, just how far can we take the practice of ecumenicalism? A severe problem exists when ecumenicalism violates the express requirements of God’s law. We read in God’s word, “Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.” (Matthew 12:25)

This brings up the question of whether the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is divided. The Bible teaches us that the Church of Christ is not divided when it comes to teaching and practice. The doctrine that it does not matter which church you belong to just so long as you believe in Jesus, is error that condemns the soul to Hell. The reason for this is because Christianity Equals No Compromise.

The practice of ecumenicalism within the Lord’s church leads to another problem. The problem is that of Making Sin a Trivial Thing. If sin is seen as a trivial thing, we will see no reason to avoid it or overcome it. In the teachings of the Lord we find, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 6:23) This is speaking of the eternal death experienced by the lost souls in Hell.

We have decided to go to YouTube to put our sermons on. YouTube does not have a limit and will not be deleted after 30 days like Facebook does. To find a video just search for Pound Church of Christ on YouTube and when I video shows just click on the p to go to our page to show all the videos and be sure to subscribe as well. Once we get to 50 subscribers we will be able to do it live but until then we will post them afterwards. If Facebook cooperates we will still upload the videos on here as well but they will only stay for 30 days on here
