We are known for providing high quality educational programs for children and youth, from our award winning Wednesday night Christian Education program to our 4 Star Rated Preschool. Our Youth Group has always been strong and vigorous, a perfect place for young people to wrestle with their faith. For 70 years the church has been central to the life of the Simonsdale neighborhood, which was origina

lly established to house families as they moved to Portsmouth in order to work in the Naval Shipyard during WWII. The church was at the center of life for these families and this ethos continues today. At 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6 we will worship and partake of Communion in a service headed by Commissioned Pastor Paula Bass! She'll preach the sermon, "YUPPERS," and we'll enjoy a special accordion solo by our own Adam Gicz. Blessings abound when we worship together!

This Sunday, August 30, we'll gather at 11 a.m. to worship with the Rev. Rebecca Lesley preaching the sermon, CALL WAITING, and two of our dearest singers will offer the anthem, THE GOODNESS OF GOD. We'll hold a very brief called meeting of the congregation near the conclusion of the service to hear and act upon a report from the Nominations Committee, then adjourn to the fellowship hall for an enjoyable Meagre Meal and BINGO! Busy day at Simonsdale on Sunday, August 16! We'll gather at 11 a.m. for worship led by our friend, Commissioned Pastor Randy DuVall preaching the sermon, "Get Up, Stand Up", and the choir will sing a favorite anthem. Afterward, the Session will meet in the parlor. And....everyone should LOOK UP when they arrive to appreciate our NEW ROOF! Hallelujah!
