This past Sunday, Seminarians David Leff and Adam Chamberland received the Investiture in Cassock from Bishop Robert Reed, Rector os St John’s Seminary. This marks a transition as they begin the Discipleship stage of formation. They are pictured here with Bishop Reed and fellow Portland seminarians Joseph Beale and Nicholas Hershbine. I’m inviting you to join Fr. Donlon for the annual Fr. Rale Pilgrimage set for August 22nd at St. Sebastion’s in Madison, ME. This is an annual event that has been organized by Mr. Joseph Moreshed. This is an amazing opportunity to reflect upon the priestly identity of this great priest missionary and to walk together in this reflection. This is an awesome reflection for anyone wondering how to determine certain basic green or red flags to look for in yourself to see if the Lord may be calling you the priesthood. In celebration of the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, solemn chanted vespers, with a reflection by seminarian Nick Hershbine, will be offered at the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul, 122 Ash Street in Lewiston, on July 22 at 6:30 p.m. The evening will also include adoration and Benediction, with a light reception to follow.

Priests and deacons from throughout Aroostook County and beyond gathered at St. Louis Church in Fort Kent recently to honor Msgr. Jean-Paul Labrie upon his retirement from active ministry. Msgr. Labrie has faithfully served the Church in Maine since his ordination in 1982, including the past nine years as pastor of St. John Vianney Parish. On the eve of the ordination of Deacon Ezekiel Yisi and Deacon Evans Yongyee to the priesthood, the faithful gathered in the chapel of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland to pray for the two young men and to pray for vocations. Bishop James Ruggieri presided over the Eucharistic Holy Hour and Solemn Vespers, and at the conclusion, he blessed the priestly vestments, chalices, and patens with which the newly ordained will be presented during the Rite of Ordination. Congratulations to Deacon Ezekiel B. Yisi and Deacon Evans B. Yongyee on their graduation from St. Mary's Seminary and University in Baltimore, each earning a bachelor's degree in sacred theology and a master's in divinity. Deacon Yisi and Deacon Yongyee will be ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, May 23, at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. All are invited to attend the Mass and join in the celebration. Please continue to pray for them and all our seminarians.
