Here are some photographs from our Choral Evensong yesterday afternoon. In this part of the world Evensong is such a rare treat, but is enjoyed highly by those who attend. We were very glad to welcome a delegation from Congregation Beth Israel, who joined us as part of an ecumenical exchange.

The Sacred Festival Choir is hard at work this morning putting together J. S. Bach’s “Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden” for tomorrow morning’s Mass.

Do join us at 10:30 am for Holy Communion, as well as at 4:00 pm for Choral Evensong. The Choir will be singing at both Liturgies of the Day.

If you join us this Sunday at Saint Christopher's By the Sea, you will have two opportunities to hear some of the musical offerings at both the Morning Mass and Evensong in the afternoon. The Sacred Festival Choir, made up of members from Dallas, Houston, and Baltimore, Maryland, is returning to sing for our Liturgies on October 25th.

The Mass begins at 10:30 a.m., and will feature portions of Mass Settings by Tallis, Hayden, Monteverdi, Panufnik, and Rheinberger, alongside motets by Bach and Messiaen.

At Evensong, they will sing a setting of the Canticles by Judith Weir, an anthem by Purcell, as well as the chanting of the Psalms and the Prayers. We will also be welcoming Congregation Beth Israel to Saint Christopher's as part of an ongoing ecumenical endeavour between our two congregations. Evensong will begin at 4:00 p.m.

All are welcome to attend both these liturgies.

Join us tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14th, for one of our Liturgy offerings during the Day. We begin our day with Morning Prayer at 8:30 a.m. At midday, we take about ten minutes to pause for Noonday Prayers at 12:10 p.m. In the late afternoon and evening we say Evening Prayer at 5:00 p.m. and, following immediately, is the Mass of the Day at 5:30 p.m. This week, we will be offering our monthly Healing Liturgy during the Mass. Finally, at 8:10 p.m., we close our day with Compline, sometimes known as Night Prayers.

All are welcome to come to one, any, or all of the Liturgies during the day, taking time for prayer in community and pausing to give thanks to God for the blessings of this life.

On Sunday, we also welcomed a Schola group from Harmonia Stellarum Houston who sang for the Liturgy. Here is a short clip from Sunday's Mass of the stunning Sanctus et Benedictus from "Missa a 4", by Alessandro Grandi. The full ensemble will return shortly after Easter 2027 to present Eastertide Vespers (Evensong) music. Follow us here for more information about that event.

Here is a batch of photographs from yesterday's Episcopal Visitation at Saint Christopher's Church. During the Mass, our Bishop, The Rt. Rev'd Dr David G. Read confirmed in the faith three adults and one youth. He also received a gentleman into the our Anglican Communion, and oversaw the Baptism of an eighth grader. We give thanks to God for the movement of the Holy Spirit in our Parish Church.

Join us this morning, October 11th, at Saint Christopher’s Church. We will be welcoming the XI Bishop of the Diocese of West Texas, the Rt Rev’d Dr David G. Read, as our Celebrant and Preacher. We will also celebrate a trifecta of Sacraments, including Holy Baptism, the Holy Communion, and Confirmation.

The Mass will be sung by a Schola made up of members of the Harmonia Stellarum Houston, as well.

Do join us at 10:30 a.m. for this Liturgy of the Day. “The Lord inhabits the praises of His people.”
