What if the greatest joy in your life was waiting on the other side of one conversation, one act of kindness, one name written on a piece of paper and prayed over faithfully?

Pastor Larry Skero Jr. brought a powerful word this week from Matthew 28 and James 5, reminding us that the Great Commission is not reserved for preachers and teachers. It belongs to every believer. The fields are white for harvest right now, and God is calling each of us to lift our eyes and step into the work of bringing souls into His kingdom.

Who in your life needs to hear the gospel? A neighbor, a coworker, a family member who has drifted from the truth? Write their name down. Pray over it. Find a partner and make a plan. The soul winner's greatest reward is not found in comfort or self-focus, but in the moment God grants the harvest.

Materialism, Myths, and the Idol of Success

Our culture often defines success by money, titles, influence, comfort, and possessions. But Scripture calls us to something deeper: faithfulness to Christ, endurance in sound doctrine, and hearts awakened to truth.

Paul warned Timothy that people would turn away from truth and gather teachers who simply tell them what they want to hear. That warning still matters today. We don’t need myths, motivational fluff, or ear-tickling messages dressed up with a little Jesus. We need the Word of God.

May we reject the idol of worldly success and ask the Father to awaken our hearts. Let our desire be for truth, holiness, and Christ Himself—not just the comforts of this world.

“Give us truth, nothing but the truth, so help us God.”

The Danger of Itching Ears

Scripture warns us that a time will come when people “will not endure sound doctrine,” but will gather teachers who tell them what they want to hear. That warning is not just for “out there”—it is for our own hearts.

We must ask ourselves: Do I want truth, or do I only want comfort? Do I want God’s Word, or do I want someone to tickle my ears and affirm my desires?

Faithful preaching and teaching will sometimes encourage us, sometimes correct us, and sometimes confront us. But if it is rooted in Scripture, it is a gift from God. Truth may hurt our feelings, but it also sets us free.

Lord, give us hearts that hunger for sound doctrine. Keep us from chasing myths, fables, and messages that only feed the flesh. Awaken us to love Your Word, walk in Your Spirit, and remain faithful to Christ.

Give us truth—nothing but the truth—so help us God.

Reproving, Rebuking, and Exhorting With Patience

Faithful ministry—and faithful discipleship—requires more than simply speaking truth. It requires speaking truth with the heart of Christ.

Paul charged Timothy to *“preach the word”* and to do the hard work of reproving, rebuking, and exhorting—but always *“with great patience and instruction”* (2 Timothy 4:2).

Some need gentle correction.
Some need a firm rebuke.
Some need encouragement to keep going.

But all of it must be rooted in love, grounded in Scripture, and guided by patience. We don’t correct to crush people—we correct to help them walk in truth. We don’t rebuke to shame—we rebuke to protect souls from deception. We don’t exhort with empty flattery—we encourage one another to remain faithful to Christ.

In a world that wants ear-tickling messages and comfortable lies, may we be a people who love the truth enough to receive it, speak it, and live it.

Lord, give us hearts that welcome Your correction and voices that speak Your truth with patience and love.

The Charge To Preach Truth

Paul’s charge to Timothy is still a charge to the church today: “Preach the Word.” Not myths. Not preferences. Not what tickles ears. Not cultural lies dressed up with religious language. Truth.

In a world that often says, “Tell me lies—it’s what I want,” God’s people must be a people who say, “Tell me the truth—even when it corrects me, convicts me, and changes me.”

Sound doctrine matters. Faithful teaching matters. Patient correction, loving exhortation, and courageous rebuke all matter because Christ is worthy, His Word is sufficient, and His church must be guarded.

May we never settle for ear-tickling religion. May we hunger for the Word of God, walk in the Spirit, and remain faithful to the ministry God has entrusted to us.

Lord, awaken our hearts. Give us truth. Nothing but the truth. So help us God.
