A Southern Baptist Church that has been in our community for over 50 years! Sunday service starts at 10:30am. Thank you again for visiting us.

A lot has changed in our society during that time, but one thing that has not changed at Grace is the consistent, vibrant, down-to-earth preaching and teaching of the Bible, God's holy, infallible Word. May God bless and keep you in His care as you live your life for Him.

I have a great-nephew named Wesley who lives in Washington DC. I have only seen him twice... once when he was three months old, and once when he was 8 months old. In a few weeks he will celebrate his first birthday! I received a few photographs of him the other day. My first reaction was surprise at how much he had grown since I last held him 3 months ago!

There are times, I suppose, when we wish all little babies would stay little so we could still hold them, cuddle them, and snuggle with them. But physically that will not happen. We cannot stop their growth spurts. Nor should we try. It is a good and natural thing for a baby to grow into a child, then a teenager, then a young adult, and finally into adulthood. (Our oldest grandson is now flying airplanes solo!)

In the same mindset, it is a good thing for a new Christian (and even an old Christian) to grow in their walk with the Lord. Our spiritual growth is important to the Lord, and to those around us; and our spiritual growth should matter to us.

Where are you at in your growth and walk with Jesus?

Today is a great day in the history of our church! We are all witnessing and taking part in four baptisms! Gabe, Presley, Olivia, and James have all made their personal profession of salvation in Jesus Christ and by faith accepted Him as their Savior and Lord!

Hallelujah!!! By their baptisms today, they are declaring to this church, to you their families and friends, and to the world that as a result of their salvation, they will follow Jesus Christ for the rest of their lives. Our obligation as a church is to encourage, guide, support, and help them to grow in their Christian walks. May all of us take on the responsibility to do that. And may we continually pray for them as they become the next generation of the church!

I think we can all agree, the world and our nation are in a very serious condition. The price of gasoline and groceries are at all-time highs.
Conflict, disagreements, and wars are happening all over the world.
Protests, crime, and social media bullying is bringing hatred upon all nationalities and organizations. Christianity is under attack to the point where thousands of Christians are being killed every year. All of this is leading to "the end of the ages" as we know them. Jesus gave His disciples signs as to when "the end of the ages" will come.
He used the analogy of "birth pangs." When a woman's time to deliver a baby gets close, her "birth pangs" come quicker and with more intensity. Jesus said as the world draws closer to the end times, the signs will come quicker with more intensity. I personally believe that our world's "birth pangs" have started. The signs are every-where. We are getting closer to the end. Are you ready? Are you ready for the end? Are you ready to meet Jesus face to face?

Today, I continue on with my series of sermons about diamonds and gemstones and about how God, as the Master Jeweler, is shaping us, pressuring us, molding us, and transforming us into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.

We have learned that ... just like diamonds and gemstones ... it is a lengthy process to transform our once dirty, sinful, ugly life into a brilliant light that is to shine brightly as we reflect God's glory through His Son. God's desire is to change us (transform us) into Jesus' image. But, as much as God wants to do that work in us, we have to have the desire for Him to do that work in us. We must be in the right "spiritual setting" for God to shape us and mold us.

As Christians, we know that the "setting" of Jesus living in us has allowed His person to reflect God's light and love through us.
Our light will shine the brightest when we discover the specific setting that complements our life in the best way possible. God is always at work. He is creating a setting for us to serve in which we can reflect His light and lift most brilliantly. Allow Him to create in you a light that brings hope to those around you.

The last two weeks I have been preaching about diamonds and gemstones.
We learned that diamonds and gemstones are formed beneath the earth's surface over thousands of years under tremendous pressure and heat.

This great force turns old, muddy, ugly rocks into beautiful expensive stones. We also learned that God... through time and pressures of life... is constantly molding, shaping, and refining our old, sinful, ugly lives into marvelous walks which shine forth His glory.
This transformation in our lives is God at work conforming us into the image of Christ. God not only shapes us for His glory, but He shapes us for our good, and He shapes us for His Gospel.

As wonderful as that sounds, it will not happen unless you and I (as believers in Christ) have a heart's desire for God to transform us. I believe many Christians miss out on God's blessings because they will not allow God to shape them, mold them, and transform them into the image of His Son. As David said, "Create in me a clean heart and renew my spirit!” (Psalm 51:10)

Observed the first Monday in September, Labor Day, is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers.

The "Labor Day Holiday" is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America's strength, prosperity, and well-being. After many political movements, on June 28, 1894, congress passed an Act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday. Thus, instead of "laboring" on Labor Day, many take the day to travel, visit loved ones, picnic, go boating, go fishing, attend a baseball or football game, or simply lounging around at home or in the back yard.

Did you know, as Christians, we are to be "laboring" for God's Kingdom? Our Christian life is not meant to be one of leisure; rather, it is one of labor for the Lord. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:58, "My beloved brothers, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

Well ... what an interesting past three weeks! After this last storm ... one that most of us have never seen ... everyone has a story to tell.
Everyone knows where they were when the powerful winds hit.
Many suffered devastating losses, others only minor damage.

Whatever the case, we were all in this together.

One thing is certain ... nature is powerful; nothing can stop it, and nothing gets in its way. Not only is nature powerful on the earth, but nature is powerful beneath the earth's surface as well. Underground pressure works to turn muddy rocks into brilliant gems. The earth, and the natural forces around it, are in motion and working constantly.

In the same way, as Christians, God and the mighty force of the Holy Spirit, is (or should be) constantly working in our lives. It is the power and strength of the Holy Spirit that molds us and shapes us and conforms us to the image of Christ.

Yes, nature is powerful. But the Holy Spirit is so much more powerful. Allow Him to create in you a new heart and life totally committed to Christ.
