We live near people we barely know.

Same streets. Same checkout lines. Same waiting rooms.

But real connection? That's gotten harder.

This Sunday in our Neighbors series, we look at Jesus striking up a conversation with someone most people avoided.

No agenda. No lecture. Just one person choosing to cross toward another.

It's a simple move.

But it changes everything.

Have you ever been talking to someone and realized they were already preparing their response before you finished speaking?

Most of us have.

This Sunday, we're continuing our series Neighbors: Living Together in a Fragmented World with a message called Listening First.

In a culture that often rewards being louder, quicker, and more certain, Jesus offers another way. On the road to Emmaus, before he explains anything, he listens.

Maybe that's where neighboring begins — not with the right words, but with the willingness to truly hear someone.

This Sunday at Port Orchard UMC, we begin a new series: Neighbors: Living Together in a Fragmented World.

On Pentecost Sunday and Memorial Day weekend, we’ll gather to worship, remember, pray, and ask one of Jesus’ most important questions through the story of the Good Samaritan:

Who is my neighbor?

We’ll also begin looking ahead to our Catch the Wind summer events — opportunities to step beyond our walls and show up where love is needed in our community.

If you’ve been feeling the weight of a divided and disconnected world, this is a meaningful Sunday to join us.

We live in a time when people are more connected than ever… and yet often feel increasingly divided from one another.

Many people are carrying loneliness, exhaustion, tension, fear, and disconnection while living side-by-side with others every day.

But throughout the Gospels, Jesus continually moves toward people.

He listens.
He notices.
He crosses barriers.
He reminds people they matter.

Beginning May 24, we begin a new series called Neighbors: Living Together in a Fragmented World.

Together, we’ll explore what it means to live with compassion, hospitality, grace, and deeper connection in a world that often feels fractured and distant.

Because being a neighbor is not simply about where we live.
It’s about how we choose to live together.

And maybe now more than ever…
that matters.

Some seasons of life feel wide open.

Others feel smaller than we hoped.

Sometimes we quietly wonder:
Is there still more ahead for me?
For this church?
For our community?

This Sunday at Port Orchard UMC, we conclude our Easter series More to Come: The Life Grace Grows with a message from Ephesians 3 called Greater Still Coming.

Together we’ll explore Paul’s powerful reminder that God is able to do “far more than we can ask or imagine” — and that grace is still at work in ways we may not yet fully see.

We’ll also introduce this summer’s Catch the Wind community outreach opportunities and invite everyone to consider simple ways we can carry grace beyond the church walls.

Something in us begins to change long before we fully notice it.

A softer response.
A little more patience.
A willingness to begin again.

This Sunday at Port Orchard United Methodist Church, we continue our Easter season series More to Come: The Life Grace Grows with a message called Put On Love from Ephesians 4:17–32.

Together we’ll reflect on how grace slowly reshapes not only who we are, but how we live with one another—through kindness, forgiveness, honesty, compassion, and small everyday choices that quietly become part of who we are becoming.

Whether you’ve been part of POUMC for years or are simply looking for a place to breathe, reflect, and reconnect, you are welcome here.

Ever walked into a place and quietly wondered, Do I belong here?

This Sunday at Port Orchard United Methodist Church, we continue our series More to Come: The Life Grace Grows with a message called “No More Strangers” (Ephesians 2:11–22).

Together we’ll explore a simple but powerful promise at the heart of faith:
In Christ, we are no longer outsiders. We are being gathered into one household of grace—where barriers fall and belonging begins to grow between us. 🌿

Whether church feels familiar or brand new to you, there is a place for you here.
