Update: we are just about out of pears and grapefruit. Thank you!

If you missed out on pears and grapefruit yesterday, good news! We’ve got them out again.

We also have baby formula coming out our ears. If you have a little one or know a little one, you’re welcome to grab it. No limit, no questions.

You’re welcome to drive up and take what you’d like.

Edited to add we also have bananas (from the fridge so they’re darker), oranges and various things on our free shelves inside.

Do you know how exciting it is to see a client in the wild?

My family went to eat today and I saw a client we’ve known for years in the first days of their job. They were struggling, in that it was literally their first day. But they were doing great. Professional, apologetic, and asked for patience. Isn’t that what we all want?

I’m so freaking proud of them. And anyone that does something hard to make their situation better!

I went on a trip to Ely, MN once and there was a guide that said “be bold, start cold”. What does that mean? Even if it’s hard, you need to just take the leap. Starting a new job is hard NO MATTER WHAT. Whether you’re 16 or 36, the fear of the unknown really can get anyone down. Be kind. Give grace. And start cold.

Caroline and I were at the Home Illinois Summit in Springfield Tuesday and Wednesday.

We heard from dozens of people in the trenches to try to solve the problem of homelessness.

This has been a great opportunity for us to gain some different insights and network with providers all over Illinois.

We’re glad to have the support of our amazing community.
