There are still a few spots left in our upcoming Writing the Spiritual Life class! Join Amanda Berger, editor of our Inspire Magazine, for a five-week workshop beginning on July 6th that will explore faith through writing.

Writing can be a powerful tool for understanding our life with God. Through encountering the writing of well-known authors and using a variety of prompts and writing exercises, you’ll learn to express your experience of the holy. This workshop is not about creating something that’s publishable but about deepening your understanding of and relationship with God through the written word. No experience necessary; ages 14 and up are welcome. You may choose your medium: write either on laptop/tablet or by hand.

In this week's episode, Pastor Tim reflects on the tendency of the world to make us forget our true identities as beloved children of God. He also thinks about how relationships with others—which need time and space to develop and grow—can help us remember who we are. Question: What practices or activities help you to remember that you are known and loved by God?

SPD is an enthusiastic supporter of Plymouth's major summer community event, Music in Plymouth, held annually at the Hilde Performance Center. It is an evening of music and community spirit that we celebrate with our neighbors, featuring a number of musical ensembles. This year's Music in Plymouth is on Wednesday, July 8th, and we’ll be staffing an SPD information booth on the grounds. The event starts at 5 pm and is open for people to drop by throughout the evening. Stop by and see us, and enjoy this wonderful annual musical festival!

SPD wants your help! On Thursday, July 9th, we will gather in the Narthex to bundle donated fabric and thread and box them for shipment to Lutheran World Relief. Lutheran World Relief tackles global poverty by helping people adapt to the challenges that threaten their livelihoods and well-being. The fabric kits we will be bundling are specially designed to help people cope with poverty, disasters, and conflict, and they provide fabric and thread for vocational training programs that teach sewing and for newly trained tailors to launch their sewing businesses.

As we look back on Vacation Bible School, we’re filled with gratitude for a week where we got to explore the nature of God! From songs and stories to games and crafts, every moment reminded us that God knows us, loves us, and is our safe place. We are so thankful for the families, leaders, and volunteers who all helped in making this week so special!

Let us welcome the newly baptized: Gia Castagna, Scottie Leigh, Daenerys Victoria, and Eleanor Michele!

We welcome you into the body of Christ and into the mission we share: join us in giving thanks and praise to God and bearing God’s creative and redeeming word to all the world. We welcome you into the Lord’s family. We receive you as a fellow members of the body of Christ, children of the same heavenly Father, and workers with us in the kingdom of God.
