Heavenly Father, too often we look to ourselves or the things of this world for help before looking to You. In moments of overwhelm, help us look to You and trust in Your promises. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to be my Savior. Remind me that the same God who made heaven and earth is still watching over me today. Help me trust in Your power, rest in Your promises, and turn to You in every need. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The Church fulfills her role as her brother’s keeper. The privilege, responsibility and importance of this task all rest in the words from our Gospel lesson that follow Jesus’ divine directive, “I tell you the truth…” The keys of the kingdom have been placed in our hands. It is our privilege and responsibility to bind and to loose—to be our brother’s keeper—because Christ has appointed the Church to carry out that task on his behalf.

Heavenly Father, You are the true source of wisdom. Too often I rely on my own understanding instead of trusting Your Word. Forgive me for the times I have ignored Your wisdom and followed my own desires. Teach me more of Your ways so that I may trust Your Word and not my own understanding. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is my wisdom and salvation. Teach me to fear, love, and trust in You above all things, and guide my life through Your Word each day. Heavenly Father, thank you for giving your Spirit, who produces true fruit in my life. Forgive me for the times when my words and actions do not reflect your love. The fruit of the Spirit is the natural outpouring of knowing you and resting in your grace. Help my words and actions reflect love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Heavenly Father, thank you for being my safe place. You are my rock, my refuge, and my deliverer. You are with me no matter what I face, and I am grateful that I can always take refuge in you. Please forgive me for the times I trust in my own strength instead of your protection. Give me the courage to surrender my concerns and to trust your promises each day. Heavenly Father, I do not want to worry, yet I often find myself spending more time worrying than trusting in Your promises. Help me let go of those worries and cling to Your promises instead.
