We were challenged this past Sunday to slow down and take a hard look in the mirror. It’s so easy to look the part on the outside while letting our hearts drift on the inside.

When we run on autopilot, pride slips in. We start managing our image instead of monitoring our hearts. Jesus doesn't want our perfectly polished performances; He wants our raw, authentic obedience. He looks past the filters and asks each of us: "How real are you?"

To walk in His way, we have to be willing to hold our horses, hit the brakes, and let the Holy Spirit expose the areas that need alignment.

The Mid-Week Heart Check Challenge:
Before you rush through the rest of your week, take five minutes today to check your dashboard. Ask yourself these four questions:
Motives: Am I doing this for God's glory, or for others to notice?
Sight: Am I looking at people through the lens of grace, or judgment?
Priorities: Does my calendar reflect what I say matters most?
Commitment: Am I all-in when no one else is watching?

Let’s stop performing and start surrendering. Give God permission to expose what needs to be corrected today so He can guide your steps tomorrow.

James 4:10 gives us a powerful promise wrapped in a challenging command. It tells us to humble ourselves before the Lord, and He will lift us up.

In a world that constantly tells us to promote ourselves, push to the front of the line, and make sure our voices are heard, this scripture flips everything upside down. The kingdom of God does not operate on human striving. We do not have to claw our way to the top or exhaust ourselves trying to prove our worth.

True honor and promotion do not come from our own efforts. They come from a posture of surrender. When we willingly lower ourselves, lay down our pride, and admit that we need His strength more than our own strategies, God steps in. He takes the heavy lifting out of our hands.

If you are tired of striving to keep everything together today, take a step back. Quiet your heart, bow before Him in prayer, and let Him do the lifting. He is incredibly faithful to carry the weight you were never meant to hold.

Where do you need to stop striving and simply surrender to Him today?

In 1 Peter 4:8, we are given a powerful command for how to live as a church family. Peter tells us to love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
This does not mean that love sweeps wrongs under the rug or pretends that hurts do not exist. Instead, it means that Christ-like love chooses grace over offense. When we live in close community with others, people will inevitably let us down, hurt our feelings, or make mistakes. Our natural human response is often to hold a grudge, but God invites us to a higher way of living.

Choosing to love deeply means we offer the same lavish forgiveness to others that Jesus has already extended to us. His love covered all of our sins on the cross. When we let His grace flow through us, we can stop keeping a score of wrongs and instead build relationships that reflect His heart.

Is there an offense or a grudge that you need to let love cover today?

We belong to God. Everything we are belongs to Him. As you finish out your week, reflect on these questions from the Sunday message as you continue to give back to God what is already His.

1. Looking at your daily routine, what areas of your life (time, talents, finances, or worries) are you still trying to claim complete ownership over instead of rendering them to God?

2. Pastor Mathew mentioned on Sunday that fear and anxiety "overload our systems" because we weren't manufactured for them. How does knowing you belong to a loving Creator change the way you handle worry this week?

3. What does it mean to you personally to know that God prepared "good works" for you to walk in before you were even born?
