Sometimes, the job is just too much for my equipmemt. A very nice man asked me to remove these two bushes. Once I got there I knew there was no way I was going to fit them in my little truck. Second biggest I was asked to remove to date 😁

Stay safe around leaning stones! They are not usually attached to anything mechanically! Friction ( and gravity ) are the only things keeping them in place on most of these larger stones.

I got a call from a nice man who wanted a stone leveled before Easter, well there was no way I could get to it before then, so a week or so after Easter I gave him a call just to let him know I would be up the cemetery that day to level his stone. I was a bit chapfallen when he relayed how his nephew was at the cemetry and all he did was touch the stone and it fell over. I believe it! If its leaning bad just leave it and call someone to shore it up before it falls.

The Second Sunday of Easter, April 12, is also known as the Solemnity of Divine Mercy. Jesus Christ has promised to grant complete forgiveness of sins and punishment on Divine Mercy Sunday as recorded in the diary of St. Maria Faustina. The spiritual conditions for this indulgence are as follows: attend Mass on Divine Mercy Sunday, sincerely repent of all our sins and place our complete trust in Jesus, go to confession preferably before that Sunday, receive Holy Communion on that Sunday, venerate the Divine Mercy image, and be merciful to others through our actions, words and prayers on their behalf. We will celebrate a holy hour of Eucharistic Adoration on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 12 at 3 p.m. in SH church. At this time special prayers will be said and the chaplet will be prayed in common. Confessions will also be heard. Please plan to attend to receive many graces. “Jesus, I trust in you!”

✝️ A Corporal Work of Mercy This Easter Season ✝️

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Dupont, PA is working with funeral homes throughout the Pittston Deanery to provide a dignified Christian burial for unclaimed cremated remains.

These urns will be reverently laid to rest in the Holy Sepulchre section of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Cemetery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated during the Easter season, followed by interment — all provided free of charge through the charity of the Society. No fees are asked of families or funeral homes.

Parishioners and friends of both parishes will be invited to take part in this beautiful and meaningful liturgy once a date is announced. If you feel called to assist with this special work of mercy, please speak with Fr. Petro.

The Society is also seeking monetary donations to help cover the cost of tombstones. Donations may be placed in an envelope marked “SVDP Funeral” and either mailed to the Sacred Heart parish office or placed in the collection basket.

Sadly, some individuals pass away without loved ones or the means for a proper burial, and their remains go unclaimed. Especially during this Lenten and Easter season, we are reminded of Christ’s suffering, death, and Resurrection — and the dignity owed to every human life.

Thank you for helping ensure that no one is forgotten. 🙏

It's that time of year!

If you need some really nice locally made Christmas wreaths, we are going to be starting to put them up very soon.

We have our wreaths locally made! We can put them up early because they last so long even though they are real wreaths!

$75 ea and that includes the metal easel if needed and before and after photos.

Here are just some of the ones we did last year.

"During WWII, German U boats (the N**i subs) sank thousands of ships. So while battle was extraordinarily dangerous, getting there was no less hairy. And one boat, the Dorchester, was transporting 902 passengers when it met what’s regarded as the second worst sea disaster in WWII.

Four men were a calm in the midst of the storm, it was their four chaplains: Methodist minister George Fox, Rabbi Alexander Goode, Reformed Church minister Clark Poling, and Fr. John Washington, a Roman Catholic priest.

Survivors remember them walking around the deck, directing men, calming them down, praying with people, and handing out life vests.

And then the unthinkable happened. They realized the life vests were all out. So each chaplain made a decision that he knew in that dark icy sea, meant certain death. One at a time, they slowly removed their life vest and gave it to a soldier.

They were last seen clinging to the highest part of the ship before it descended into the icy depths…and they were not panicked. They weren’t crying. They were arm in arm, singing hymns together.

A medal was struck, specifically for them by the US Military, with the equivalent ranking of the Medal of Honor. It would never be awarded again. It was just for them. The Four Chaplains Medal.

The words come to mind: No greater love has man than this, to lay down his life for his friends."

To all our veterans, thank you for your service.

The poor mums already died off for the season so this is what we came up with.

A very nice lady called me up and when I went to look at this stone she told me it almost fell on her foot while she was putting up a cemetery candle!
Thank you Lord, thank you Blessed Mother that that didn't happen.
People dont know that there is usually nothing but some friction and gravity holding these stones in place. They tip very easy if they start to lean. Its really dangerous!!!
Never lean on a stone, you can get pinned and people do die or loose appendages. That top part is maybe 600 - 800 lbs
