Bring the Children—They Are Welcome Here!

Parents, please do not allow the fear of your child crying, moving around, asking questions, or making a little noise to keep your family away from church.

At Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Church, we understand children. We know they are still learning, growing, and discovering what it means to worship God. We will be patient with them—and with you—as they grow.

Children are not an interruption to worship; they are an important part of our church family. Church is where they learn to pray, sing, worship, love others, and know Jesus. They cannot learn how to be in church unless someone lovingly brings them.

So bring the babies, the toddlers, the energetic children, children with special needs, and the teenagers. Bring the whole family just as you are. You do not have to feel embarrassed, anxious, or judged. There is room for your children at Mount Pleasant!

Join us for worship:

Parents, breathe easy. Your children are welcome, and you are welcome too!

Bring your kids to church, even if it looks like this.

One day she’ll sit quietly through the entire service.

One day she won’t need snacks, coloring books, or to be carried out halfway through.

One day she’ll be grown.

I’d rather have a child who grew up in church than a child who only started attending once she was old enough to act like an adult.

If that means some Sundays look messy, then they look messy.

If your toddler spends more time under the church chairs than in the church chair… you’re probably doing just fine. 😂

Keep bringing them.

They may wiggle, crawl under chairs, drop snacks, ask questions at the wrong time, or need to be carried out more than once. But they are learning something important: that church is where we gather, worship, and belong ❤️

Today, we honor and celebrate every father, grandfather, stepfather, spiritual father, mentor, and father figure within our church family. Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the wisdom you share, the prayers you pray, and the godly example you strive to set.

Your presence matters. Your leadership matters. Your love, strength, and faithfulness help shape families, strengthen our church, and build a better community.

May God continue to give you wisdom to lead, courage to stand, patience to nurture, and strength to remain faithful in every season.

“The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” — Proverbs 20:7

On behalf of First Lady Tonya Orr and me, we pray that each of you has a joyful and blessed Father’s Day.

Happy Father’s Day!
