Teen Challenge Phoenix

Teen Challenge Phoenix More than a faith-based residential recovery program, our center is a place where hope is reborn and people are set free through the power of Jesus Christ.

Teen Challenge Phoenix is a non-profit organization that relies entirely on the generous donations, funding and volunteer efforts of both individuals and organizations throughout our communities in order to offer services at little or no cost to the individual. We know that community involvement and support is an essential component of recovery and necessary to providing services that address the

specific needs of the communities involved. It is the mission of Teen Challenge Phoenix to provide individuals and families an effective and comprehensive faith-based solution to drug and alcohol addiction as well as other life-controlling problems. We are committed to enabling and equipping those we serve to find freedom from addictive behavior, to become socially and emotionally healthy, physically well and spiritually alive. Teen Challenge reaches out to people from all backgrounds, with particular emphasis on the urban poor, women, and ethnic minorities. We also give back to the communities we are in with outreaches, events, inner-city and suburban ministry teams, school drug prevention presentations and much more.

📖 John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

On this Memorial Day, may we remember the sacrifice so many have made for our fellow countrymen & women. You will not be forgotten. Most importantly, thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice for the remission of our sins so that in You, we could truly be free. We are a blessed people to call You friend.

🙏 Prayer— Thank you, Jesus, for all that you have done in our lives. We would like to send a special prayer to those who have lost loved ones. May they be comforted in your peace and reminded of how much they are loved. May we never forget what it means to lay down our lives for the cause of Christ. In Jesus name, amen.

📖 Ephesians 4:28 He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.

Have you ever taken something that didn't belong to you? Even if it was as small as a pen. Or maybe a few extra hours off the clock. Being able to steward what we've been given is a blessing. But even more so for those who are in need. This week may we be intentional with how we spend our time and resources.

🙏 Prayer— Gracious heavenly Father, we thank you for providing all that we have need of. Remind us of this scripture when we are tempted to take something that isn't ours. We know that the thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. May we reflect your heart as we steward what we have been given and let us not become lazy hearers but faithful doers. In Jesus' name, amen.

Transformational Testimony
On May 2nd the Phoenix Teen Challenge Men’s choir joined the worship team from New Beginning Christian Church for the first annual Actors Anchors Artists & Athletes United Award Ceremony. Teen Challenge was a featured ministry and Pastor Snow Peabody was honored for his decades of community service with one of the awards.
As we were getting ready for the program one of my staff drew my attention to where our students were seated. One of the photographers for the event was talking to our students. As I approached the choir seating I could see that Charles was very emotional as he told his story. At times he could not even get out the next phrase of his story because he was overcome by remembering what God had done for him.
He told our students that many decades ago he was a Teen Challenge student. He spent many months in our program and God freed him from a 40 year addition to crack co***ne. He encouraged them that they were right where God wanted them. They all needed to stick to the program. God was going to bring them freedom as well.
What a powerful testimony for our men and what a powerful blessing for Charles to tell his story.

📖 Philippians 2:13 For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

I love this quote from Spurgeon — “Grace all-sufficient dwells in you, believer. There is a living well within you springing up; use the bucket, then; keep on drawing; you will never exhaust it; there is a living source within.” With this work comes greater responsibility as a Christian. May we press into that grace and work out our own salvation with fear and trembling as we walk with the Lord.

🙏 Prayer — Thank you, Jesus for the gift of your Holy Spirit. May we walk according to your will and reflect your true character. We desire to continue to grow in your love and to fulfill your plan for our lives. In Jesus' name, amen.

“You can’t make this stuff up!” - Pastor Snow Peabody

This past Friday, May 1st, I had the pleasure of watching and walking through a number of miracles.

Before you can really experience how profound that statement is I need to give you some background.

Six years ago our Tucson Men’s center was praying to God to bring them a miracle. They were operating out of a remodeled motel on Miracle Mile. The functioning motel next door was a place that drugs were freely sold and used and prostitution was the daily norm. Teen Challenge of Arizona was praying that we could get together enough money to put a down payment on that property. Our goal was to buy it and shut it down so that our students would not be constantly tempted by what was going on next door.

If you still don’t get the picture of just how bad it was then think about this. The police used to ask our permission so that they could stage up on our property to raid the property next door.

At this same time (in the midst of the summer of 2021) our Executive Director, Pastor Snow Peabody, was diagnosed with Covid, put on a ventilator, and put in a medically induced coma. We were all praying that he would live and the doctors did not give us much hope.

During that crisis, God led a couple to the Tucson Center who had heard about our goal to Redeem the Corner. They were moved by what they saw and donated enough money to outright buy the motel, level that building as well as our current center, and build a brand new modern men’s center on the property.

So Friday, I saw Pastor Snow Peabody (a walking miracle), cut the ribbon to the brand new Tucson Men’s Center (a monumental miracle) that is totally debt free (a provisional miracle)!

You can’t make this stuff up!
