Paul's farewell
11. Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Be restored; listen to my appeal; agree with one another; live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
12. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you.
13. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.
(2 Corinthians 13:11-13, UMC Lectionary 2026)

Jesus is on His way! Let us get our hearts, mind and souls ready to meet Him, "What a glorious day that will be"

Prayer is talking with God and believing in Him. He is our Rock of Salvation.

We pray for all students who are or have graduated or promoted from their schools in 2026. May they have the mercy, grace, love and guidance from Jesus Christ as they move towards their next phase of their lives. Congratulations.

Pray for our world as natural disasters are becoming a daily occurrence, floods, fires, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and the aftereffects for our people. Pray for those countries who are experiencing wartime
and our military as they are being deployed.

Remember the homeless as these days are becoming warmer, water can be donated.

May God continue to bless and keep you and shine His light upon you throughout 2026.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.

Sermon Title: The Real Masters of the Universe
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 13:11-13

We can’t call on the “power of Grayskull” as we face life’s struggles. But we can receive a higher power when we turn to God the Trinity.

There’s tension between Paul and the Corinthians, and villains are working against him. But Paul wants only the best for the Corinthians. By revealing the true masters of the universe, he gives them the power of grace, love and communion.

Day of Pentecost, Year A

Scripture Readings:
Numbers 11:24-30
Psalm 104:24-34, 35b
Acts 2:1-21
John 20:19-23
(UMC Lectionary 2026)

Filled with the Spirit

1. When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
2. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.
3. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them.
4. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.
5. Now there were devout Jews from every people under heaven living in Jerusalem.
6. And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each.
7. Amazed and astonished, they asked, "Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?
8. And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language?
9. Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10. Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,
11. Cretans and Arabs--in our own languages we hear them speaking about God's deeds of power."
12. All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?"
13. But others sneered and said, "They are filled with new wine."
14. But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them, "Fellow Jews and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to what I say.
15. Indeed, these are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o'clock in the morning.
16. No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
17. 'In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18. Even upon my slaves, both men and women, in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.
19. And I will show portents in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and smoky mist.
20. The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the Lord's great and glorious day.
21. Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'
(Acts 2:1-21, UMC Lectionary 2026)

John 17:1-11
Christ's prayer for his disciples
17:1. After Jesus had spoken these words, he looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you,
17:2. since you have given him authority over all people, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.
17:3. And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
17:4. I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do.
17:5. So now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had in your presence before the world existed.
17:6. "I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.
17:7. Now they know that everything you have given me is from you,
17:8. for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me.
17:9. I am asking on their behalf; I am not asking on behalf of the world but on behalf of those whom you gave me, because they are yours.
17:10. All mine are yours, and yours are mine; and I have been glorified in them.
17:11. And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one.

Once again, we look forward to our time together in worship and fellowship. We will be very happy to see you this Sunday, May 17, 2026. We will welcome you as Christ welcomes you to new life.

Sermon Title: Still in the World
Scripture: John 17:1-11

In the waning days of the COVID pandemic, several corporate CEOs required employees to return to the office for at least a few days each week. Many employees were happy working remotely and wanted to be in the workplace but not “of the office.” That tension also exists in today’s church, where it resonates with Jesus’ discussion with the disciples about being “in the world but not of it.”

Christ’s kingdom work continues, but now we need to do the heavy lifting.

Sixth Sunday of Easter, Year A

Scripture Readings:
Acts 17:22-31
Psalm 66:8-20
1 Peter 3:13-22
John 14:15-21
(UMC Lectionary 2026)

Acts 17:22-31:
22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Scripture Readings:
Proverbs 4:10-18
Psalm 119:9-20
1 Peter 2:2-10
John 14:1-14
(UMC Lectionary 2026)

Christ the way, truth, life
14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
14:2 In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
14:3. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also.
14:4. And you know the way to the place where I am going."
14:5. Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?"
14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
14:7 If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him."
14:8. Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied."
14:9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
14:10. Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.
14:11. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, but if you do not, then believe because of the works themselves.
14:12. Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.
14:13. I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14:14. If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it

John 10:1-10

The Fellowship of the Believers
42) They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43) Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44) All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45) They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46) Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47) praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
