This year, we hope you will join us for a special Good Friday worship tomorrow! The service will feature a well-known cantata setting of The Seven Last Words of Christ. Composed by the 19th-century French Romantic composer and organist Théodore Dubois, the piece combines the seven distinct statements spoken by Christ during the crucifixion, drawn from different Gospel accounts. Pamela Lynde, Tyler Brown, and James Moyer will serve as soloists, and a choir composed of NPC Chancel Choir members and friends will represent the gathered crowd. Our presentation will be accompanied by a professional chamber orchestra including a string quartet, harp, organ, and timpani.
Please join us Good Friday (tomorrow) at noon as we remember the cost of our redemption and the depth of God's love revealed through Christ's atoning sacrifice in moving and meaningful liturgy, Scripture, and music.

SAVE THE DATE! Sunday, March 8 at 4pm NPC is hosting local band Peace Jam for a free concert! See the attached flyer for more details. When there is so much division and bitterness, we must try to focus on that which unites us and we hope this concert will bring our community together for some amazing music and inspiring stories! You’ll hear popular songs you love connected by narration and the backstories behind the songs or interpretations old and new. All ages are welcome and while the concert is free, any free-will donations collected will go to purchase fresh foods for local food pantries! Let's recommit to living in community with one another. Hope to see you there!

WORSHIP UPDATE
for Sunday, February 22, 2026
Peace and grace to you all as we approach yet ANOTHER Sunday with snow in the forecast!

Out of an abundance of caution and based on the current weather forecasts for tomorrow, NPC is still planning to proceed with our 9am worship service followed by the Annual Congregational and Corporation Meeting. However, to ensure everyone’s safety, we will NOT have worship at 11am. Additionally, there will NOT be Sunday School, Nursery care, or rehearsals for children’s and youth choirs. The Youth Group and Rehearsals in the evening have also been cancelled already.

We ask that everyone use their own good judgment and take serious precautions when determining whether to attend worship. We know that storms like this are hard to predict and can change quickly. ***Please note that if there are any further changes to our plans and we decide to cancel our 9am service as well, we will email the congregation no later than 7:30am***

Stay safe and may the peace of Christ be with you!

WEATHER ALERT!
Church will be closed this Sunday due to the expected snowfall.

As we look ahead to yet another winter storm coming through our region this weekend, with potential for significant snowfall starting Saturday evening, throughout Sunday and into Monday, NPC leadership and staff have deliberated and concluded that the wisest course of action is to cancel in-person (sanctuary) worship this Sunday.

So, we will not have in-person worship this Sunday. There will still be online worship available for you on the church website (https://newtownpres.org/) that Pastor Laura will pre-record with her sermon, prayer and hopefully music from our Canon Ringers as well! We want to be sure that everyone stays safe and does not risk themselves attempting to make the trip into town with the severe weather that is being predicted.

Also, with regard to the soup sale that was to take place on Sunday, we will postpone this to the following week. If you have already made soup or were planning to make soup for the sale, you can still drop it off at the church today or Friday or on Saturday between 1 to 3 PM. We will make sure it is placed in the freezer for sale the following week!

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to gathering for worship in person on Sunday, February 1st.
Until then, may the peace and grace of Jesus Christ be with you and stay safe!

Pastor Sam, Pastor Laura, Ben, and Lynn
