Weekly Announcements for the week of 2ND SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST 06-07-2026
Welcome to worship. Jesus came to call sinners to repentance, and that includes me and you. He came to minister to the sick and hurting ones, including us. Those who have already come to Jesus, and who now seek to bear his name and spirit and mission to others, surely know all about “fresh starts” and “second chances” and “new life”. Day by day we are trying (or should be) to say love and show love and do love, courageously crossing boundaries and barriers that seek to exclude others and compassionately extending mercy and God’s invitation to sit at the table next to us. The Church is alive and on fire and on the go with God’s grace and God’s mercy!

TODAY
9:00AM All Saints Choir warm-up.

St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church
2ND SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST
06-07-2026 10:00AM Worship (in person and online)

+ We Rejoice in God’s Presence +
THE OPENING RITE (based on PSALM 50):
L The Mighty One, the Lord our God, is moving all over the face of the earth.
Our God calls out to the heavens and earth to listen and judge, our God has an issue with the people here on earth.
C Our God comes and will not be silent.
Our God sends a destructive fire before him, and a mighty storm surrounds him.
Our God doesn’t seem too happy with us right now.
L The Mighty One, the Lord our God, is definitely not pleased with the people.
Our God rages with anger and thunders with judgment.
C Our God doesn’t need or want the people
to grill up some steaks,
to fry up some chicken,
or to broil up some fish
in order to satisfy God’s desire and hunger.
Our God doesn’t need or want
weak “Praise the Lords!”
empty “Hallelujahs!”
or half-hearted deeds of limited kindness
to come from our lips and our lives.
L The Mighty One, the Lord our God, is about to “go off” on the attitudes and the actions of humanity.
Our God is frustrated with those who are “playing religious”, and our God is angry with those who are “walking wicked”.
But our amazing God also continues to be patient and merciful, to reach out again, to offer love and a second chance.
We should never dare to underestimate God!
C We ought to listen to God’s voice with sorrow for our sin and with humble gratitude for God’s grace!
O let us be and become a people who know and seek the glory and splendor of God,
a strong and obedient people
a people truly able to share God’s love and mercy,
a people of joy, a living Body!

THE BENEDICTION by the Pastor… God sends us forth TO LIVE faithfully and TO LOVE fervently!

THE HOLY TRINITY 05-31-
2026
Welcome to worship. TRINITY is a term not found in the Bible, but it is our Christian attempt to
account for the complex biblical testimony that (1) GOD THE “FATHER” who created our world
and our lives has remained all-powerful and transcendent; (2) and yet JESUS CHRIST THE
“SON”, who lived and died and was raised by God, was somehow also God; (3) and the HOLY
SPIRIT, poured out on the Church on Pentecost Day and even now, is also God; (4) but there is
only ONE GOD. When we are baptized in this name, we receive a sense of divine order to the
chaos of this world…we enter into a mutual relationship that is marked by divine love… and we
receive a divine mission to help create the kingdom of God through our fervent witness and
faithful service. God calls us to live, to be, to speak and pray and serve and love. The
Church is alive and on the go!

GRATEFUL and LOVING Christians!

Beyond support of our 2026 Budget ($187,927 is what we envision spending this year) are those
opportunities for special giving on behalf of others. They include:
ELCA World Hunger Appeal (responding to international, national, and local hunger and poverty).
We received $10 last Sunday and $1,517 to date. Your love is showing!
Lutheran Charities Appeal (assisting three local social ministry organizations – KenCrest Services, Lutheran
Settlement House, and Gemma Services – that serve thousands of neighbors with various needs).
We have received $491 to date. Lives are being changed!
Mission Offering (For January 1 – June 30 it is Sisters of St. Joseph Refugee Housing Project. We sent
them $579.65 in 2024.) We received $45.00 last Sunday and $473 to date. Help welcome others!
“God’s Global Barnyard” is an ELCA development project to fight poverty. We have received $20 to date.

Thank you to all who helped make last Sunday’s PENTECOST WORSHIP (100 saints
gathered together in the sanctuary in bright clothes and bright faces plus 25 online
households!) and PICNIC (plenty of food and fellowship and a newly baptized baby
to help spark the joy!). Many hands shared the load. Now, with empowered spirits,
liberated tongues, and enthused hearts, let us truly remain the BODY OF CHRIST –
alive and on the go with the Jesus story and the Jesus love!
