Fringes: a feminist, non-zionist havurah Fringes: a feminist, non-zionist havurah in Philadelphia since 2007 We define as feminist because we challenge power structures around gender, race, and class.

Fringes: a feminist, non-zionist havurah was developed as a response to the challenge posed by theologian Rachel Adler: "if we don't mean what we say when we are praying, what are we doing?" In Fringes, we use the structure of the traditional Jewish morning service, but our prayers are poems and songs--we believe that prayers should sing and songs should pray. We define as non-zionist because our Jewish lives are centered here in Philadelphia, and because we believe all lands are holy and all people are chosen.
