New Vision Church Pewaukee

New Vision Church Pewaukee We meet on Sundays at 5:00 pm over dinner - all are welcome! Dinner church is church, but over dinner. You’ve never been to a dinner church? We understand.

We meet Sundays at 5 PM to to encourage each other to know and live the teachings of Jesus, ask questions, grow friendships, and of course – share a meal. Visiting might feel like you are crashing someone’s dinner party. But don’t worry – you’re not! We would love to meet you! The weekly gathering of Jesus’ people, the church, has always been about growing in our knowledge of the teachings of Jesu

s, remembering what he did for us, building each other up in Jesus-shaped love, and partnering with each other to share that love with our neighbors (Acts 2:42). That’s really all our gatherings are about.

Hello friends of New Vision,

This is Pastor Christina from New Vision. I am going to be at the church this evening (April 7) from 6-7 pm to commit an hour to prayer for peace and the people of the world.

The potential escalation of violence is heavy on my heart today, as I'm sure it is for many.

Consider this post an invitation to any who follow us on Facebook who desire to pray with brothers and sisters, even if we’ve not met or haven’t seen each other for awhile.

May we all commit to being examples of the peace of Jesus to our neighbors.

“They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." ~Isaiah 2:4

The modern church is facing a crisis of discipleship.

The first-century disciple Dorcas was beloved by many, and she deeply impacted the vulnerable and underserved in her city.

In today’s devotional, Bishop Lynn Thrush explores her Generosity and the far-reaching impact it had:

“The whole community was touched in some way by Dorcas as she generously shared her life and goods with needy neighbors. Her generosity galvanized others to action and ultimately brought many into the family of God.”

It’s Day 5 of the Week of Prayer and Fasting - half way already!

Today’s immersive devotional by Bishop Bill Donner examines courageous Sacrifice through the story of Esther, concluding with this prayer:

“Father, I pray that you would make me like Esther. Help me to lay aside what seems safe. Show me where to invest who I am into the lives of others. Lord, raise me up to know that I have come ‘for such a time as this.’ Work through my brokenness to redeem! Amen.”

Today’s devotional examines Ananias, the man who followed God’s call to visit and heal Saul - a known persecutor of the early Church. His High-Risk Obedience is today’s missional characteristic.

“I think that by daily practice in routine scenarios,” writes Bishop Rob Patterson, “Ananias was prepared to offer more than good intentions or lip service when God’s mission was potentially lethal; regardless of the price, Ananias obeyed and showed up.”

For Day 2 of the Week of Prayer and Fasting, we’re focusing on the characteristic of Tenacity seen in Paul’s life.

“God knew what he was doing when he chose to redeem Paul’s tenacity and call him to spread the gospel through the Roman Empire of that day,” writes Bishop Ron Bowell of the Midwest Conference.

“This trait would be a transferable necessity in Paul’s calling to start new churches in a world filled with hostile religious and political forces.”

"...For who can endure the day of his coming?" by Luci Ann Shaw (based on Luke 1-2 and Matthew 1-2)

When an angel
snapped the old thin threads of speech
with an untimely birth announcement,
slit the seemly cloth of an even more blessed
event with shears of miracle,
invaded the privacy of a dream, multiplied
to ravage the dark silk of the sky,
the innocent ears, with swords of sound:
news in a new dimension demanded
qualification. The righteous were
as vulnerable as others. They trembled
for those strong antecedent "Fear nots",
whether goatherds, virgins, workers
in wood, or holy barren priests.

In our nights
our complicated modern dreams
rarely flower into visions.
No contemporary
Gabriel dumbfounds our worship,
or burning, visits our bedrooms.
No signpost satellite hauls us, earthbound
but star-struck, half around the world
with hope. Are our sensibilities too blunt
to be assaulted with spacial power-plays
and far-out proclamations of peace?
Sterile, skeptics, yet we may be broken
to his slow, silent birth, his beginning
new in us. His big-ness may still burst
our self-containment to tell us,
without angels' mouths, "Fear not."

God knows we need to hear it, now,
when he may shatter, with his most shocking
coming, this proud, cracked place,
and more if, for longer waiting,
he does not.

What great stories of relying on God and living out our callings as God’s people. May we all become a Luke 4 church!

Meet the needs that God puts in front of you.

Reclaim our identity and reclaim our mandate to restore the dignity of all people.

We don’t lead only as compassionate servants, we lead with the spirit and power of God.

Mustard seeds spend a lot of time in the dark where no one can see them. There will ALWAYS be life again when we put the seeds in Jesus’ hands.

Meet the need that God puts in front of you.

UPDATE! We are only $1000 from our goal to make big strides in improving … Christina Bosserman needs your support for Help New Vision deploy our HVAC heroes!

An UPDATE regarding our trip to the Navajo Mission. We are only $1000 from our goal to make big strides in improving the HVAC equipment at the Mission. Every little bit helps, and THANK YOU to those who have already donated!

Between financial gifts and the donation of two furnaces (!) New Vision has committed to the trip. Now that we know the scope of the resources available, we can share an update:

Our first priorities:
Delivering equipment to the Mission property
Making repairs on equipment that cannot be replaced on this trip
Installing up to two furnaces as the temperature allows
Producing a complete and detailed report of all HVAC equipment to create a project plan for a second trip in milder temperatures.

Due to weather (some equipment is in attics) there will likely be a need for a second visit. Because of this, our HVAC techs shortened their trip by a few days to save vacation time for the next trip. Pray that they will be successful in completing the priorities above.

There is still about a $1000 need to cover the costs of getting the equipment on the property. All the support members of the team have given their own funds to travel to the Mission, but there are expenses that remain related to transporting equipment and tools, and covering basic costs for our HVAC techs.

We think it is amazing that because of generosity and little creativity, we have made big strides in this project.

The letter has links for those who would like to give. Gifts are tax-deductible. Every little bit helps!

The church is open this afternoon (2/19) for anyone who wants to spend some informal time in worship and prayer. I (Pastor Christina) will be at the large west classroom by 2pm, maybe earlier. I have collected a playlist for singing over the last few years on YouTube, with a few sermons interspersed that have meant something to me over the years. I'm just going to push play and enjoy the time with Jesus. I may come and go some but I will leave the playlist going.

You are invited to share the space with me and any others that join. There won't be a formal start or program. Just an invitation to take some time away from your normal Sunday routine for worship.

Then stay for the monthly game night hosted in the building at 5:30, if you can!

Curious what's in the Bible? We are currently reading Philippians, a letter from one of the first Christian leaders to a gathering of believers in the city of Philippi (modern-day Greece)

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again, rejoice!” is a famous quote from Paul, found in the book of Phlippians in the Bible. The artistic presentation with its beautiful compo…

Jews in the ancient city of Berea were deeply committed to understanding and living by Scripture. As a result, many of them were quick to believe that Jesus was the Messiah.

In today’s devotional, Bishop Lynn Thrush explores our Core Value of Believing the Bible and encourages us to devote ourselves to Scripture in the manner of the Bereans. Read more: https://bicus.org/resources/prayer/week-prayer-fasting/day-3/

In 1 Timothy 1:15b, the Apostle Paul writes, “Christ Jesus came in the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst.” Paul uniquely understood how necessary it was for Christians to experience God’s love and grace; and in today’s devotional, Bishop Ron Bowell explores why we each need that experience in our own lives.
