Dear friends,
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
We praise the Lord for His control over everything. These past months have been hard with several trials, but we have seen and felt His love towards us.
Our summer months (January-March) were filled with doctor appointments for Fio. She never stopped losing blood since the miscarriage in November, which made her very weak. We had to consult several experts because the different treatments they gave her did not seem to work. By the grace of God, the whole ordeal ended at the end of March. Fio received three transfusions and a very aggressive treatment to strengthen her body. Thank you for your prayers and to those who wrote, called and contacted us. It was very encouraging.
Despite all this, we were able to carry on with the various ministries we are involved in. Fio and I tutor at the William Carey Seminar here in Córdoba City (an hour away from us). At the same time, we are counseling believers as we work toward accreditation by ACBC after fifty hours of live counseling. Please pray for wisdom from the Lord as we must address different issues and hard cases in people's lives.
Another trial was that I (Pablo) was denied the renewal of my visa to enter the US twice. In the past I never had any issues with this matter. I have been travelling to the US since I was four years old with a perfect record of entering and departing the US in the allowed timeframe. The embassy did not tell me the reasons why I was denied. I will try again next year with an application for another type of visa that requires longer paperwork. Please pray that I would be granted a visa so we can travel as a family to the US soon.
In the church plant of La Falda, we see the Lord bringing people to the new group. We are going through the Gospel of John, and it has been such a blessing to all of us studying the ramifications of Jesus' Deity. As you may recall, La Falda is the capital of Gnosticism in Argentina. People in that town believe Jesus was a good guy, a great teacher but by no means was he God. They inwardly know that if they admit that He is God then they must be accountable to a loving Jesus who is also Just, Holy and Sovereign, and that kind of Jesus irritates people here. Pray that God would continue to work in each one who arrives at the church with curiosity and questions.
Another important prayer request is that this coming June we must renew the rent contract with the owner of the church building. She is willing to renew it to us, but it seems the price will increase significantly every three months. We are starting to have inflation again in Argentina, and this makes prices go crazy. As a new group, rent is always a big burden until the group grows in number. We collect offerings every weekend, but with inflation it is never enough.
Our kids are doing fine. They were very sad about losing the baby, but this trial gave us many opportunities to have conversations about God and His perfect will, especially with our youngest one (4 years old) who is slowly understanding the Gospel. Please pray for her salvation. And pray for Julieta and Daniel that the Lord would continue to form strong Christian resolutions in their lives.
Thank you for your partnership in ministry! We appreciate your prayers and faithful support every month. Please feel free to write to us and send us your prayer requests so we can pray for each other.
In Christ,
Pablo, Fio, Julieta, Daniel and Samara.
