Mateo 9:14-17

14 Entonces vinieron a él los discípulos de Juan, diciendo: ¿Por qué nosotros y los fariseos ayunamos muchas veces, y tus discípulos no ayunan? 15 Jesús les dijo: ¿Acaso pueden los que están de bodas tener luto entre tanto que el esposo está con ellos? Pero vendrán días cuando el esposo les será quitado, y entonces ayunarán. 16 Nadie pone remiendo de paño nuevo en vestido viejo; porque tal remiendo tira del vestido, y se hace peor la rotura. 17 Ni echan vino nuevo en odres viejos; de otra manera los odres se rompen, y el vino se derrama, y los odres se pierden; pero echan el vino nuevo en odres nuevos, y lo uno y lo otro se conservan juntamente.

Matthew 9:14-17

14 Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees often fast, and your disciples do not fast?" 15 Jesus said to them: Can those who are in marriage have mourning while the bridegroom is with them? But days will come when the husband will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. 16 No one puts a patch of new cloth on an old dress; because such a patch pulls the dress, and the tear becomes worse. 17 Nor do they pour new wine into old othres; otherwise the othres are broken, and the wine is spilled, and the othres are lost; but they pour the new wine into new odres, and one and the other are kept together.

El mensaje a Sardis

Escribe al ángel de la iglesia en Sardis: El que tiene los siete espíritus de Dios, y las siete estrellas, dice esto: Yo conozco tus obras, que tienes nombre de que vives, y estás mu**to. 2 Sé vigilante, y afirma las otras cosas que están para morir; porque no he hallado tus obras perfectas delante de Dios. 3 Acuérdate, pues, de lo que has recibido y oído; y guárdalo, y arrepiéntete. Pues si no velas, vendré sobre ti como ladrón, y no sabrás a qué hora vendré sobre ti. 4 Pero tienes unas pocas personas en Sardis que no han manchado sus vestiduras; y andarán conmigo en vestiduras blancas, porque son dignas. 5 El que venciere será vestido de vestiduras blancas; y no borraré su nombre del libro de la vida, y confesaré su nombre delante de mi Padre, y delante de sus ángeles. 6 El que tiene oído, oiga lo que el Espíritu dice a las iglesias.

The message to Sardis

Write to the angel of the church in Sardis: He who has the seven spirits of God, and the seven stars, says this: I know your works, that you have a name that you live, and you are dead. 2 Be vigilant, and affirm the other things that are to die; for I have not found your works perfect before God. 3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. For if you do not sail, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what time I will come upon you. 4 But you have a few people in Sardis who have not stained their garments; and they will walk with me in white garments, because they are worthy. 5 He who overcomes will be dressed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. 6 He who has ears, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

La sal de la tierra

13 Vosotros sois la sal de la tierra; pero si la sal se desvaneciere, ¿con qué será salada? No sirve más para nada, sino para ser echada fuera y hollada por los hombres.

La luz del mundo

14 Vosotros sois la luz del mundo; una ciudad asentada sobre un monte no se puede esconder. 15 Ni se enciende una luz y se pone debajo de un almud, sino sobre el candelero, y alumbra a todos los que están en casa. 16 Así alumbre vuestra luz delante de los hombres, para que vean vuestras buenas obras, y glorifiquen a vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.

The salt of the earth

13 You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt fades, what will it be salted with? It is no longer useful for anything, but to be thrown out and tropped by men.

The light of the world

14 You are the light of the world; a city on a mountain cannot be hidden. 15 Not a light is lit and put under an almud, but on the candlestick, and it illuminates all who are at home. 16 Thus shine your light before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Dios se aparece a Jacob en Bet-el

10 Salió, pues, Jacob de Beerseba, y fue a Harán. 11 Y llegó a un cierto lugar, y durmió allí, porque ya el sol se había puesto; y tomó de las piedras de aquel paraje y puso a su cabecera, y se acostó en aquel lugar. 12 Y soñó: y he aquí una escalera que estaba apoyada en tierra, y su extremo tocaba en el cielo; y he aquí ángeles de Dios que subían y descendían por ella. 13 Y he aquí, Jehová estaba en lo alto de ella, el cual dijo: Yo soy Jehová, el Dios de Abraham tu padre, y el Dios de Isaac; la tierra en que estás acostado te la daré a ti y a tu descendencia. 14 Será tu descendencia como el polvo de la tierra, y te extenderás al occidente, al oriente, al norte y al sur; y todas las familias de la tierra serán benditas en ti y en tu simiente. 15 He aquí, yo estoy contigo, y te guardaré por dondequiera que fueres, y volveré a traerte a esta tierra; porque no te dejaré hasta que haya hecho lo que te he dicho. 16 Y despertó Jacob de su sueño, y dijo: Ciertamente Jehová está en este lugar, y yo no lo sabía. 17 Y tuvo miedo, y dijo: ¡Cuán terrible es este lugar! 10 So Jacob went out of Beerzeba, and went to Haran. 11 And he came to a certain place, and slept there, because the sun had already set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put on his head, and lay down in that place. 12 And he dreamed: And behold, a ladder that was resting on the ground, and its end touched in the sky; and behold, the angels of God who went up and down it. 13 And behold, the Lord was on top of her, who said: I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac; the land on which you are lying I will give to you and your offspring. 14 Your offspring will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread to the west, to the east, to the north and to the south; and all the families of the earth will be blessed in you and in your seed. 15 Behold, I am with you, and I will keep you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have told you. 16 And Jacob woke up from his sleep, and said: Surely Jehovah is in this place, and I did not know it. 17 And he was afraid, and said: How terrible is this place! It is nothing but the house of God, and the door to heaven. 18 And Jacob got up in the morning, and took the stone that he had laid at the head, and lifted it up as a sign, and poured oil on it. 19 And he called the name of that place Beth-el,[a] although Luz[b] was the name of the city first. 20 And Jacob made a vow, saying: If God is with me, and keeps me in this journey in which I go, and gives me bread to eat and clothes to wear, 21 and if I return in peace to my father's house, the Lord will be my God. 22 And this stone that I have laid as a sign will be the house of God; and of all that you give me, I will set aside the tithe for you.
