The Shroud of Turin: Fake or Real?

5:00 PM Saturday May 25 at Bloxom Community Nazarene Church

Mr. Elwood "Sandy" Sanders, an attorney and legal scholar, as well as an amateur astronomer, will discuss the Shroud of Turin, long believed to have been the shroud in which Jesus was buried. An image, believed by many to bear the face of Jesus, is imprinted in the fabric.

But is the Shroud real, or simply a master artist's handiwork? That question has long intrigued scholars, artists, and scientists. Only late last century did the Catholic Church allow scientists to subject the shroud to scientific examination. Did they resolve the questions that have accompanied the Shroud, or simply deepen the mystery surrounding this artifact?

For insights into this venerated object, which the Catholic Church realizes has an uncertain provenance, please join us to hear Mr. Sanders' lecture. All are welcome.

All are invited to join Bloxom Nazarene Church for its first ever children's Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt will be held on the church grounds on Saturday March 16 from 1:00 to 2:30 PM.

Refreshments, including hot dogs and chips, will be served at the end of the hunt. A parent, or other designated responsible adult, must remain onsite while their children are hunting for eggs. Also, please bring a suitable container, such as a bucket or basket, to store the eggs as your children collect them!

We ask all those planning to attend to call Candy at 757-384-0407 and tell her how many children and adults will be in your party so that we can plan accordingly.
