One of our true Saints sharing the love of Christ. Betty is a regional leader and member of United Disciples in South Charleston, WV.
Before I get too far into this post, let me first say that it is incredibly difficult to find a photo of Betty all by herself, and I have thoughts on why that is. It's because her family, her friends, her church, and her community are everything to her, and she is constantly surrounded by some combination of people whose lives she touches with her presence alone.
As a Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley volunteer, Betty often goes above and beyond for our care receivers, because they become "her people."
"I am a senior who can live in my home without assistance, but many of my friends cannot," Betty said. "Faith in Action fills a need in our community."
"I am often amazed at how grateful people are to be able to do their own grocery shopping. They can't believe that someone would shop with or for them for no charge."
"One of the people I shopped for was a retired minister. Each time I left her home, she would say, 'God be with you.' I was so touched, and had great respect for her and her faith."
"Faith in Action gives us an opportunity to help others according to our own schedule. We all need to give back to the community, and these care receivers show so much love and gratitude for our time."
Three hours of your time can mean the world to someone else. We invite you to join Betty and the rest of our incredible volunteers in this rewarding, meaningful service. 💙
P.S. Betty is shown here with her husband Joe, who was our organization's very first Board Chair. We owe a lot to the Beeson family! 🥰
