CONGO: After Ituri and Goma, an Ebola case is confirmed in Bukavu (Lwiro)
Bukavu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is currently landlocked, with all points of entry closed, and the humanitarian crisis is worsening.
Following the confirmation of a case in Goma, Rwanda decided to close its borders with the cities of Goma and Bukavu.
This Wednesday, May 20, a case was confirmed in Lwiro, not far from Bukavu, making this part of the Congo an area of particular concern, as the confirmed case had spent considerable time with other people.
This Friday, May 22, access to the road leading to Beni and Butembo was cut off, separating Bukavu and Goma from Ituri Province. As for the neighboring countries that supply the cities of Goma and Bukavu, Uganda and Rwanda decided to close their borders with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
As a reminder, the banks and the airport in the cities of Bukavu and Goma have been closed, causing major difficulties for the population.
In light of this problem, please pray for the Ebola virus, for which there is currently no vaccine or even medication.
Please also pray for the women supported by Tracy's Heart Foundation, the children in the Buell School program, the staff of Tracy's Heart Foundation, and all Congolese people still affected by this tragedy.
The population is now exposed to two major dangers: Ebola and famine, following the closure of the Beni-Butembo road and the closure of the Rwandan and Ugandan borders.
The need remains immense, as the situation in Congo is complex, especially now that the city is isolated and the population doesn't know how to protect themselves from Ebola.
