Today's Devotional Thought:
Along with Tyre, Egypt is prophesied to have judgment coming. The Lord does however promise to bring a remnant back to Egypt. God judges the nations with consideration and mercy. So also for individuals.

Ezekiel 25-27
Today's Devotional Thought:
Following the silence instead of mourning from yesterday's reading, God stops speaking to Judah for awhile and moves to the neighboring nations. Tyre is described much as Judah was earlier in the book, prosperous and influential. But judgment for sin brings a swift end to all that glory. Sin ultimately brings destruction and shame and no amount of hoarding of worldlliness will deter it.

Ezekiel 23-24
Today's Devotional Thought:
At the end of chapter 24, Ezekiel is called on to be an object lesson to the people concerning loss. Ezekiel is told he will lose the delight of his eyes but not to publically mourn. His wife died that night. This was to be an example to the people when they would loose their children and loved ones. But it is of the Lord's loss also as it grieved the Lord to do what He did. Exekiel is a true servant who was willing not only to serve for the benefit but also through the loss.

Today's Devotional Thought:
Chapter 21 verse 27 declares a ruin and that the crown will be removed and not given again until the one who it rightfully belongs to comes. This speaks of Jesus as the ultimate fulfillment of the Davidic covenant. No king has reigned in Israel from that time to now and we await the Lord's return to reign.

Today's Devotional Thought:
Today's reading speaks of personal responsibility without regard to upbringing or circumstances. The parents pay for their own sins and the children likewise. While circumstance, family and peers have influence, it is liberating to know God will not lump you in with the others. You control your own destiny. Later in the reading God speaks of those involved in wickedness having the opportunity to repent and be forgiven. No matter how dark your spiritual life has been, God offers light. All you have to do is repent

Today's Devotional Thought:
Chapter 16 reminds me of Hosea. Judah is described not just as a harlot but one who pays the client instead of charging the client. Unfaithful, foolish and prideful is the way God describes her and her response to his husbandry and lovingkindness. Ultimately she will be brought to shame.

Ezekiel 13-15
Today's Devotional Thought:
In today's reading we see Exekiel dealing with false prophets and then civil leaders asking questions about false prophets. To emphasize the destruction to come God said if Noah or Job or Daniel were present they alone would be spared. Daniel is a contemporary of Ezekiel and is not present for he was already carried away into captivity. Daniel quickly became well known for being faithful to Jehovah in Babylon and apparently in Jerusalem as well for God to use him as an example. About 20 years passed between the first group taken captive and the destruction of Jerusalem, so there is plenty of time for Daniel to be well known in Jerusalem.

Today's Devotional Thought:
The cherubim with their respective wheels are a mystery to me, but they represent God's creation doing what they were created to do with order, precision and honor. In comparison God's people are described as rebellious. They have ears and eyes but do not listen or see. Jesus called on all who have ears to hear let him hear. This passage shows us the what Jesus meant. Don't be rebellious, not just in your actions but also in your learning. The people ignored Ezekiel because they were rebellious. Their minds were made up before Ezekiel even spoke.

Today's Devotional Thought:
Much of the prophecies of destruction in today's reading is directed to the land in Israel. Though the sins are of the people, the land pays a price too. For famine to be known among the inhabitants, the land must cease bearing fruit. Our sins have always had a greater impact than we realize
