Although most likely already know, we are sharing anyway.
It is with great earthly sadness and profound heavenly rejoicing that we share the home-going of Bro. Jerry Jolly who most recently filled our pulpit through Easter Sunday of this year. He was to us, as to so many, a great blessing.
Bro. Jerry so often told us that Amazing Grace was his favorite song because God’s grace is amazing and it was that grace that allowed him to be saved as a young boy.
That same grace covered him many more times in his life as he worked to fulfill the call that an 18-year-old farm boy from Rector, Arkansas received to preach the Gospel. Even though he loved to recount the story of a friend who told him that he didn’t realize God was that hard up, I can’t help but wonder just how many lives were touched and changed by the Gospel because Bro. Jerry was faithful to answer that call.
True to the words of the song, Bro. Jerry’s life had its dangers, toils, and snares, but the grace of Jesus kept him safe and has now led him safely home. The Lord promised good to him and he was secure in the hope of Jesus through His Word. Jesus was his shield and portion until the end of his earthly life, and now he is beginning his first ten thousand years.
Bro. Jerry also liked to quote these words of another song. “Oh, I want to see Him, look upon His face, there to sing forever of His saving grace.” That was his final desire - to be in the presence of Jesus his Savior and Lord, as well as those friends and loved ones who went before him. His prayer has been answered by his faithful Lord.
Please join us in praying for his family and all of those to whom he meant so much - for those who knew the blessing of Bro. Jerry Jolly.
