This past week, our pastor, Chris Ackerman, and his family lost their home in a fire caused by a lightning strike. Pastor Chris recently finished a sermon series on the Beatitudes, including these words from Jesus: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” (Mt. 5:4). In times like these, there are so many questions that don't have clear, satisfying answers. God never promised us easy answers. What He did promise is that He would be near us and that we would never have to walk through difficult times alone. Pastor Chris said it beautifully in his post: “We were never promised an easy life, but we were promised that we wouldn’t have to walk through it alone. Yesterday proved that. We saw love in the eyes of everyone who was there for us. That is to say, we saw God.” The Body of Christ is bigger than any one local church, and we've seen that firsthand as people from across our community and even around the country have reached out to the Ackerman family.
One way our local church family is helping is by partnering with Tyndall Federal Credit Union to establish a GoFundMe to help offset the many expenses the family will face in the coming months. Tyndall has graciously offered to cover GoFundMe's fees so that 100% of your donation goes directly to the family. If you are able to give, please consider doing so. If you're unable to give financially, please continue to keep the Ackerman family in your prayers. The Ackermans will not have to walk in this journey alone, and that is one of the many ways God will bring them comfort.
