As I'm preparing to return to Uganda in March I can't help but think about all my friends in Ukraine. I've been to Ukraine five times now, twice since the war. Having spent time with the real folks of Ukraine I'm saddened as to how many Americans dismiss Ukraine as " not my problem". Some have said, "they're not worthy of our help".
Ukraine is predominantly a Christian Nation and I dare say you would be impressed with how the Christians in Ukraine have performed in this very difficult time. They are our brothers and sisters and yet I'm commonly at odds with Christians here who have come to believe scandalous things about Ukraine. Issue by issue I recognize the lies that have been sold to otherwise Conservative Americans who have developed a corrupted opinion of Ukraine.
For starters the idea that biological weapons were being produced in Ukraine is now seen as a false flag. The biolab centers that did exist were firstly constructed to act as a deterence to Russian aggression. They were then utilized under Obama and Bidens directions as money laundering operations. The labs were made to look real and indeed the Russians, for some time believed it too. A deterent was only needed because of the work of Bill Clinton who persuaded the nuclear armed Ukraine to surrender is Nukes at what was called the Budapest Memorandum in Dec of 1994. In that agreement, Ukraine was promised protections from Russian aggression from the West ( from the US). Once Putin became aware that there was no real threat of biological weapons, he used the biolab argument inorder to justify his invasion.
Secondly, there are no N***s in Ukraine. I and none of the missionaries and pastors I worked with ever met or heard of N***s in Ukraine. For a time a small group of Ukrainian Patriots ( who knew nothing of Hitlers Germany) used the term because they thought it simply meant "patriot". The use of the term has been abandoned.
Thirdly, I've heard from many American Christians that President Zelensky is persecuting Christians. This is a huge lie and it's biggest proponent was American Conservative Tucker Carlson ( someone I generally agree with on most issues).
The churches, the life giving churches of Ukraine are courageous and busy as the hands and feet of Jesus. I know them. I've been to Kupiansk! I've seen their sacrifice. Pastor Yuri in Kupiansk was doing a good work until a Russian cruise missile killed him and destroyed his church. What was once The Church of Jesus is now a pile of rubble blending in with the rest of the city.
The re-election of Donald Trump will be a positive for the Ukrainians, I believe. Biden, if he had won, would have drugged the war on for another four years. If Biden had won there would be no Ukrainian men left to rebuild, if peace ever came.
So I'm hopeful.
In Ukraine now, is my friend Alexei Basarab. He's active as a chaplain but his ministry is throughout the body of Christ in Ukraine. He sings and preaches and prays. He's busy doing humanitarian acts, even where the artillery shakes the buildings.
When Alexei left for Ukraine six weeks ago, he went having raised very little support. But he went anyway. Alexei will probably remain in Ukraine for the rest of the winter. He could use your help. I'm inviting you to be a part in the work of Jesus in a war torn country.
You can message him directly. He has a non-profit 501c3. You can send funds to me and I can forward them thru Zelle into His bank. Either way, Alexei needs your support. The billions of dollars that Biden has funneled to his friends does not get to the people you and I would identify with, Ukraine's regular folks will never see it.
