Dolly Parton once sang, “I can see the light of a clear blue morning, and everything’s gonna be all right.” 🌤️
Cantorial Soloist Kaylene Cole and Cantor Suzanne Leventhal offer this beautiful rendition of “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” a song about hope breaking through after hardship.
This anthem comes in the wake of a sermon by Rabbi Joshua Franklin reflecting on the life, faith, and legacy of Dolly Parton. May it be a light for you today

The Jewish story doesn’t survive because it’s old. It survives because someone hands it to the next person and says: this is yours too.
That’s the heart of Temple Judea’s YEP (Youth Education Programming). In this video, Rabbi Wendy Pein shares what YEP is really about: not just teaching kids facts about who Jews are, but helping them see themselves inside a story that’s been going for thousands of years, and realizing it isn’t finished. They’re the next line in it.
Torah isn’t a museum piece. It’s a mirror. And when a student finally sees themselves reflected in it, that’s the tradition doing exactly what it was built to do: guide a life forward.
If we want the next generation to carry this story, we can’t just tell them it’s old. We have to show them it’s theirs.

So proud of our congregants who are taking the call to spread Chesed this Elul seriously.

I just heard from a congregant who was at Whole Foods this week. She bought two gift cards and gave them, on the spot, to the Amazon delivery worker there. In her words: "They BEAMED!!!"

That's it. That's the whole idea. Small acts, offered freely, can change someone's entire day.

Elul is our season of reflection before the High Holidays, and Chesed, lovingkindness in action, is one of the most powerful ways to live it. You don't need a big gesture. A gift card, a kind word, noticing someone who's often overlooked, all of it counts.

Keep going. Keep spreading Chesed. And if you have a story of your own, we would love to hear it.

As the month of Elul started, we started talking about the true meaning of Chesed at Temple. Loving others (not just family and friends) as we love ourselves. Going above and beyond to help out a person in need. This guy is a true inspiration.
