“Not only does sin bring a curse, but sin also changes the hands of authority. General sin or original sin was the act of mankind surrendering authority of this world to the serpent, the nachash—the evil one, Satan. But in addition to the authority of this world being abdicated to Satan through the fall, individual people relinquish authority of their own lives through sin. Jesus even said in John 8:34 “Whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.” Whenever you sin, you are willingly handing over the authority of your life to the powers of sin and the enemy. There is no nice way to put it—sin destroys your life, it deceives you into thinking that sinful actions or desires of your flesh will make you happy; but in reality it rots you from the inside out and binds you in spiritual chains that you can’t get free from. The worst part is, you put yourself there! Nobody made you sin—yes, we are born into a state of sinfulness; but nobody made you sin, you did that of your own fruition. “
