“It is costly for a wife to love her husband deeply and powerfully, because all that time and energy and affection she’s pouring into her husband is time and energy she can’t invest in other things. Love in that sense is always costly. But it’s one of the main ways a wife expresses her hope in God.”

We are excited to announce that Nathan Lowe will be joining staff as our next Pastoral Resident! Nathan and his wife, Katherine, are coming to us from Wake Forest, North Carolina, where Nathan is finishing his M.Div. degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has many family and personal ties to Mississippi and is looking forward to ministering here with us for the next two years.

Please be in prayer for them as they transition here. And if given the opportunity, give them a warm welcome!

“If Jesus were only our example in suffering, there would be no gospel. If the ‘good news’ was God saying, ‘You’ll be saved if you follow Jesus’ example and suffer like he did,’ we’d be toast. But Jesus is not only our example; he is our forgiveness.”

Starting June 17, join us each week for a midweek worship service at noon on Wednesdays! Bring your own lunch and fellowship with us at noon. Then, at 12:20, we will sing, have a short teaching, and close with a time of corporate prayer.

Please make plans to join us (in a few weeks, that is)!

“When you try to be your own savior you constantly think about yourself: 'How do people see me? Am I doing enough? Does God love me?; And when you’re constantly looking at and thinking about yourself, you can’t love people. Not ‘earnestly and from a pure heart.’ But the moment you’re born again and you become a Christian, this ‘imperishable seed’ begins to sprout and grow in your heart. A new power enters your life, and you’re driven by a completely different motivation. Instead of feeling like it’s your job to save yourself, you know you’ve been saved by someone else.”

“When you were transferred into God’s kingdom, you were also adopted. You got a new last name, one that signifies that you now belong to a heavenly Father. That’s what Peter means when he says in verse 15 that God ‘called’ you and, likewise in verse 17, that because he called you, ‘You [now] call on him as Father.’ God’s saving grace changed you; it made you immediately and positionally holy. Once you professed faith in Christ, and before you ever lifted a finger to do even one good deed, God declared of you: ‘Holy!’ God said of you: ‘Obedient child!’”
