Trinity Lutheran Church is a confessional evangelical Lutheran congregation in Ottumwa, IA. We believe, teach, and confess that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and the the Lutheran Confessions as contained in the Book of Concord are a correct interpretation of God's Word. e when he believes that he is received into favor and his sins are forgiven for Christ's sake. God counts such faith as righteousness in his sight. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. ... For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law." (Romans 3:23-25, 28)
We believe Baptism saves (1 Peter 3:21), that it is a washing of regeneration in the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5-8). We also believe that the Lord's Supper is Christ's true body and blood under the bread and wine for us Christians to eat and to drink (Matt. 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-25). We believe this meal, received in faith, grants forgiveness of sins, life and salvation according to God's promise. We also believe that God has given the Church the authority to forgive sins through the pastor (John 20:21-23). We have Divine Service where we receive Christ's grace through the Word and Sacrament every Saturday night at 6:00PM and Sunday morning at 9:00AM. Bible study and Sunday School is at 10:30 AM on Sundays.
