Tomorrow we’ll conclude our study of the book of Daniel and the final vision of Daniel’s life. Not only is this the end of our study of Daniel – this vision takes us all the way to THE END of History and the final resurrection.

In this last vision Daniel’s life, we’ve seen the ‘Cycle of History’ that continues to play out over-and-over-and-over again in the nations of the world... but this cycle won’t go on forever. As we’ll see, God has planned to bring this cycle to a dramatic close with a period of “Great Tribulation” which Daniel describes as “a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation.” Jesus also warned us about this cataclysmic end of History – and the final book of the Bible gives us even more details about it. Tomorrow we’ll look at Daniel, the warnings of Jesus, and consider if WE are ready for these end times to arrive. As always, we’ll find life-giving principles that can help us today as we seek to thrive while living in Babylon.

Tomorrow we’ll continue our study of the book of Daniel and the final vision of Daniel’s life. After the truly epic introduction in chapter 10 with the Angelic Hosts, and the background of the ‘Cycles of History’ in the beginning of chapter 11 – tomorrow we’ll reach Daniel’s prophecies of one of the most terrifying figures in the whole Bible: “The Willful King”… also known as the Anti-Christ.

Even people who know very little about the Bible have heard of the Anti-Christ… but few people really know what the Bible teaches about this wicked king. The Prophet Daniel gives us a lot of insight into this ‘man of sin’ and about the things that he will do… and about how he will eventually meet his doom. We’ll also look at what else the Bible has to say about the Anti-Christ, especially in the book of the Revelation. Even though this message is heavy on prophecy, we’ll see the clear challenge that rings through to us today: be ready! Knowing what’s coming in the future affects the way that we live today. Here again, we find life-giving principles that can help us today as we seek to thrive while living in Babylon.

Make plans to join us tonight at 7pm to hear from our Missionaries to the Ukraine and Laos: Derek and Julie Thomas!

We’ve been partnered with this dear couple ever since Derek & Julie spent some time in Spokane learning the Ukrainian language. They attended SBC when possible, and we came to know and love these dear servants of the Lord. When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, the ministry of the Thomas’ shifted to include humanitarian aid. Through this life-saving assistance, we’ve seen the Gospel go forward in a more powerful way and reach more souls than ever before. SBC has been partnered with the Thomases since 2015, making them some of our longest running missionary partners.

Derek and Julie are just recently back from the Ukraine, and have much to share with us.

Tomorrow we continue our study of the book of Daniel and we’ll be tackling the final vision of Daniel’s life. After the truly epic introduction in chapter 10 with the Angelic Hosts, it’s obvious that this final vision is deeply important… and it’s a big one! Chapters 11 and 12 both deal with the vision, and we’ll spend the next 3 Sundays studying it. Tomorrow, we’ll cover the first 35 verses of chapter 11… and at first it seems like a very odd vision. There’s an enormous amount of detail about coming battles, treaties, treachery, apostasy, and revival. All of this prophecy in the first 35 verses has already come spectacularly true – but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything more for us to learn today! In-fact, as we’ll see, there is a profound lesson here that can shape the way we look at the whole sweep of human history!

As Americans, we tend to think of History as moving in a straight line: upward and forward in constant progress towards bigger and better things. But when we look at things from God’s point of view we see something shocking! The events unfolding around us in history are like echoes… not just repeating things that have happened, but in a prophetic warning are showing us things that WILL happen yet in the future. There are deep cycles at work in history, and as we begin to understand what the Bible says about these things, we can be better prepared to thrive while we’re living here in Babylon.

Tomorrow is a big day at church! We'll be taking a moment for Memorial Day to honor those that gave their lives for our country 🇺🇸 + we've got another baptism after service💧 + we'll be returning to the book of Daniel 👑and to one of the most mysterious and exiting topics in the Bible: Angels!

So far in our study of Daniel, we’ve encountered the Angel Gabriel – but in chapter 10 we’ll meet 2 (or maybe 3) more members of the Angelic Host… and get a glimpse behind the curtain into the Spiritual War that is raging all around us. It is rare for God to allow a visible look into the unseen realm – and when He does, the results is always awe and fear and wonder. As we’ll see, Daniel falls to the ground a briefly looses his ability to speak… but the Angels strengthen him and prepare Daniel for the coming vision in chapters 11 and 12. In same ways, chapter 10 is just the prelude to the final prophetic vision of Daniel’s life. However, this “setting the stage” for the final vision is one of our deepest and most fascinating looks into the reality of the spiritual realm and the huge forces that are at work behind the scenes in our world.

Tomorrow we’ll study what the Bible has to say about Angels, about the spiritual realm, and about our personal part in the spiritual war that is unfolding through history.

🙏Tomorrow is our all-church Prayer Retreat at Ross point! 🙏

🌻🌺And then this Sunday is Mother's Day! 🌹🪻 It's my experience that this holiday brings out some of the strongest emotions in people: filled with joy or overwhelmed with grief. It's a testimony to how important and impactful the role of 'mother' is.

In honor of mothers, we'll be dedicating the whole service on Sunday to this theme. We'll take some extra time in the service to honor our moms - we've got a rose to give to every mother - and for the sermon we will look at someone in the Bible that you may never have heard of... but who played a critical role in the life of the early church and the spread of the Gospel: Grandma Lois! The Bible tells us that faith "dwelt" with this Godly woman.. and that faith changed the life of her daughter Eunice, her grandson Timothy, and then the whole world. The power of her example still has much to teach us even all these centuries later.

It's Mother's Day - so let's get some wisdom from Grandma Lois - and celebrate and honor the mothers in our lives.

Tomorrow is *part 2* of our study of my all-time favorite prophecy about the coming of Jesus Christ! Even though this prophecy is only 4 verses long, it is densely packed with prophetic meaning. Last Sunday we did a lot of math as we examined the FIRST coming of the Messiah... tomorrow there won't be any more math - but there is more deeply exciting prophecy to understand about the SECOND coming of Jesus!

Like last week, we'll first take the time to really understand this prophecy - and then we'll see the wonderful hope, and the profound call-to-action, that flows out of living in light of Christ's certain return.

Tomorrow we reach one of my all-time favorite prophecies about the coming of Jesus Christ in the whole Bible! Even though this prophecy is only 4 verses long, it is densely packed with prophetic meaning. So dense, in-fact, that we're going to spend the next 2 Sundays on the study of this amazing prophecy. Tomorrow, in part one, we'll look at the first half of the prophecy that deals with the FIRST coming of the Messiah. There is some math involved... but don't be alarmed! Once you understand that basics, it's all easy to follow.
After we've taken the time to really understand this prophecy - we'll discover something even more wonderful than just simple amazement... we'll see the DEEP hope that comes from learning about how totally trustworthy God is. What wonderful news that we can trust the promises of God!
