It was wonderful continuing our I Once Was Lost series this morning! We moved into Threshold Two: Becoming Curious. We are the sum total of the questions we are brave enough to ask, and curiosity is often the first sign of a spiritual "sprout" breaking through the soil.

As you look at your "Invite One" bracelet this week, remember to be sensitive to the "Dixie Cup" principle: 🥤

If someone asks a "six-ounce" question, don’t dump five gallons of answers on them! We want to fuel the spark of curiosity, not douse it.

Your Challenge This Week:
Ask a curious question: Try to move one level deeper (from Level 1 Information to Level 2 Interaction).
Listen more than you speak: Give the "Hound of Heaven" room to work in the silence.
Live curiously: Live in a way that makes others wonder why you handle life differently.

The Four Levels of Questions to watch for:
1️⃣ Information (Simple facts)
2️⃣ Interaction (Thoughts & emotions)
3️⃣ Understanding (Deep desires)
4️⃣ Transformation (Vulnerability)

Let’s help our friends move past the "whatever" fog and find something solid! I’m praying for the brave questions you’ll ask this week.

Happy Missional May, OBC Family!
The wait is finally over! Today marks the start of a month dedicated to stepping outside our walls and showing the love of Jesus to our community in tangible, "hands-on" ways.

We have been blown away by the response so far—we’ve already seen record-breaking sign-ups, and a few projects (like Habitat for Humanity and Kid Meals) are already FULL! But don’t worry, there are still plenty of ways for you to take a Next Step this month.

Here’s what’s happening in Missional May:

Packing for the Littlest Neighbors: We are assembling Layette Kits for new moms at A Baby Center, help us provide 20 starter packs for moms of newborns. 🍼

Birthday Joy: We’re celebrating local foster kids with Cape Cod Ambassadors by providing summer sports toys and helmets! 🎈☀️

Getting Our Hands Dirty: Join our work crews at Trinity Christian Academy (moving gravel/beautification) or Camp Good News (pre-summer cleanup)! 🌿🧹

The Big Event: We’re heading back to Feed My Starving Children to help pack 100,000 meals! 🍲

Building Bridges, Not Walls
What a powerful Sunday together! We’re continuing our I Once Was Lost series by diving into Threshold One: Trusting a Christian.

In 2026, we have to be honest—there is a "Trust Tax." It’s that invisible wall of skepticism that often stands between our neighbors and the Gospel. Our mission this week? Pay the Trust Tax.

💡 The Trust Inventory
Take a look at your Invite One bracelet. As you pray for that person this week, ask yourself these six questions to see where your bridge-building stands:

Vulnerability: Have they ever called me when they had a real problem?
Reciprocity: Have I ever been humble enough to ask them for help?
Authenticity: Have they felt safe enough to be real with me when they were angry or sad?
Transparency: Do I share my honest life with them, or just the "highlight reel"?
Influence: Have they ever asked me for advice?
Connection: Do we ever just have fun together?

🎯 Your Mission This Week
Building trust is a lot like interacting with a box turtle. 🐢 You can’t poke or prod someone out of their shell; you simply have to stay present and patient.

This week's challenge: Find one "right" thing in your neighbor’s life—their work ethic, their parenting, or even how they care for their home—and offer a word of sincere affirmation.

Let’s be people who see our neighbors as friends to be honored, not projects to be fixed.

It’s time to pack 100,000 meals! Registration is officially open for our favorite big event. We are aiming to fill the Friday, May 29th (7 PM – 9 PM) and Saturday, May 30th (8 AM – 10 AM) sessions.

IMPORTANT: There are two steps to register:

👉🏻 CRITICAL STEP: You must also pick your specific time slot on the official FMSC website to claim your spot. Please take this second step today before the sessions fill up!

Let’s make this the best birthday ever for Cape Cod foster kids! 🎈☀️

For five years, OBC has had the incredible joy of partnering with Cape Cod Ambassadors to celebrate foster children across the Cape. These kids don't always get the big birthday celebrations many of us are used to, and we want to change that!

This year, the Cape Cod Ambassadors are providing rollerblades, and we want to complete the gift with Summer Sports Toys and Helmets to get these kids outside and playing safely all summer long!
