This week’s focus in Acts 11-14 shows us the power of prayer at work in the early church. When Peter was imprisoned, the church prayed earnestly for him, and God answered in a miraculous way. As believers faced persecution, uncertainty, and new challenges, they continued to pray, worship, fast, and trust God for direction. Their story reminds us that prayer was not just powerful then - prayer still works today. God still hears, God still answers, and God is still able to move in circumstances that seem impossible.

Life moves through seasons, and not every season will look or feel the same. Ecclesiastes reflects honestly on the weariness and uncertainty we can experience while searching for meaning, but it also points us toward receiving our work, relationships, and daily lives as gifts from God. In due season, we can trust that God is at work even when we cannot yet see the purpose in where we are.

After all of Job’s questions and suffering, God revealed His majesty, wisdom, and power - not by answering every question, but by reminding Job of who He is. These final chapters encourage us to trust God's character even when we don't understand His plans, knowing that He is always faithful, sovereign, and worthy of our trust.

The book of Job challenges us to maintain our faith even when life doesn’t make sense. Job experienced unimaginable loss, yet he continued to acknowledge God's sovereignty in the midst of his suffering. These opening chapters remind us that our circumstances may change, but our trust in God can remain steadfast. Faith is not proven when life is easy - it is maintained when life is difficult.

God places people exactly where they need to be for His purposes. When Esther was faced with a difficult and dangerous choice, she stepped forward in faith, trusting that God had called her “for such a time as this.” These chapters encourage us to be courageous, obedient, and willing to use the opportunities God gives us to make a difference in the lives of others.

2 Chronicles reminds us that God often works through communities of faith, not just individuals. Whether it was King Jehoshaphat calling the nation to pray together in a time of crisis, the people joining in worship and praise, or faithful leaders helping guide the nation back to God, these chapters demonstrate the strength, encouragement, and protection that come when God's people unite around a common purpose. We truly are better together when we seek the Lord side by side.
