June is full of celebrations for graduates and plans for family vacations and I hope we all remember to thank God for all the wonderful times in our lives. It's so easy to pray when we are asking for his blessings and our well being but sometimes we forget to say thank you. Churches don't get vacations, their services continue every Sunday here at Calvary Lutheran at 8:45 and we would love to have you join us.
On June 14 right after the service we will have a Fire Preparedness Workshop in our fellowship hall. Pam Deditch will teach us how to pack a to go bag and be prepared for emergencies. Most of us remember evacuations from the break in the spillway and the Paradise fire and others.
We will not be having our famous salad luncheon and card party this month or next but will resume in August.

May 7 is a National Day of Prayer. It's not political, it's about ordinary people finding peace and renewed hope through prayer. Our world needs prayer more now than any time I can ever remember. I have seen so many prayers answered this past year through the members of our church. We would love to add you to our praying family.
Our services are at 8:45 every Sunday and on the 1st and 3rd Sunday we celebrate communion. There is a Bible Study after the service at 10:15 plus Bible classes offered during the week.
We will have a Salad Luncheon and card and game party on May 16 with lunch at 11 and play games of your choice till 3 for the cost of $15. It's a great time to socialize and the money collected is mostly used for different outreach programs and charities.

It's the start of the New year, did you see The Tournament of Roses Parade with the Lutheran Bringing Christ to the Nations Float? Think how many gifted people put hours into those beautiful floats. 1 Peter 4:10 says "Each of you should use whatever gift you have to help others". Helping others can have many different meanings including giving joy. Serving others isn't optional, it's the reason you were gifted in the first place. What gift do you need to dust off and start using for others? What better time than now the start of a New Year?
Every Monday at 9 the ladies will be meeting for quilting and can always use help cutting, sewing tying and ironing.
There is a Bible Study most every Sunday after the service plus one just for men on Wednesdays and women the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
There are NA meetings on Wednesdays and Fridays at 5PM
We will be starting our card parties back up this month with a soup luncheon and the date hasn't been decided yet so check back in a few days and it will be posted.

November has arrived and it's the month of Thanksgiving and also the time change we dread having to adjust to, but on the thankful side it's like having church start at 9:45 instead of 8:45 tomorrow morning. We get an extra hour of sleep. Tomorrow will be communion Sunday . If you are new to our church please pick up a bulletin as you enter and our beliefs are fully explained.
We have a lot going on and the women are busy trying to finish up their crafts so you can do your Christmas shopping at our Holiday Bazaar on the 15th. Come join us and also have a delicious Italian Sausage and Vegetable soup lunch and a slice of pie for only $12. The bazaar is from 10AM to 2PM and lunch 11AM to 1PM. While Christmas shopping also be sure to check out our sister church Grace Lutheran in Gridley for their bazaar the 22.
On Thanksgiving Day at 2PM there will be a Thanksgiving dinner cooked by Roy Webber and members of our church. If you plan on coming please add your name to the signup sheet.
Don't forget to pray everyday at 1PM for Gods church as we struggle to survive and continue to spread Gods word.

This is a post for our members to remind them of two things. Oct. 12 is Pastor Appreciation Day and we are blessed with a great pastor who we sometimes forget to tell how grateful we are for him. On Oct.15 the Women's Guild will be shopping for the Rescue Mission for pre-holiday needs and there is a basket at the back of the church to drop your donations in to help with this. Prices at the grocery store have increased as we all know and your donations are much needed and will be used wisely.
