John Wesley, the 18th-century founder of Methodism, left behind an immense spiritual and literary legacy. Materially, however, he left almost nothing: upon his death, the only money found was a few loose coins, as he had given away nearly all of the £30,000 ($7.8-8 million today) he earned in his lifetime.
