John 11:11-16 After explaining the importance of His ministry regardless of the opposition, Jesus first spoke of Lazarus as being in a deep sleep that He would awaken His friend from. When the disciples did not quite understand the gravity of Jesus' words, assuming that sleep would strengthen Lazarus, Jesus then told His followers plainly that Lazarus had died. Little did they know the miracle that would be performed in front of their eyes, even with the certainty of decay and deterioration that had already taken hold in Lazarus' body. When Jesus stated that He would still see His deceased friend, Thomas saw trouble brewing that might involve putting their lives in danger; for his part, Thomas encouraged his fellow disciples to accompany their Master, even to perhaps die in defense of Him in front of a crowd that would most assuredly be incensed at Jesus' seeming lack of empathy or care for His friend.

Daniel 7:13-15 Daniel's vison did not end with the destru ction of the fourth beast and the little horn that came from him. The Ancient ot Days, which initiated the fiery end to the fourth beast's existence, was to meet with who Daniel identified as one like the Son of Man, who would come with clouds. As a result, the One like the Son of Man was to receive dominion, glory and a kingdom, a kingdom that would eventually be worldwide (with all people and nations serving Him), and a kingdom that will never pass away or be destroyed - in short, a kingdom that is everlasting. The description of such a kingdom appears to correspond to the kingdom spoken of by John in his apocalyptic vision, that Jesus will establish at the close of this age, initiating a millennial kingdom that, while threatened by Satan at the end of time, will not be destroyed, but transferred to a new earth with undisputed authority forever.
