A.C.T.S. RETREAT FOR OUR PARISH

We are excited to announce that A.C.T.S. will be coming to OUR
Church Parish. For those of us who are not familiar with A.C.T.S., it is a weekend Catholic retreat given by fellow parishioners that strengthens not only our faith but our church community.

We are overjoyed that we will be missioned by St. Mary’s of Avoyelles A.C.T.S. who has been hosting these retreats for many years.

Church parishes included will be: Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Mary’s in Port Barre, Queen of Angels and Holy Ghost in Opelousas, St. John in Melville, St. Thomas in Palmetto and
St. Antholy in Krotz Springs.

Please pray for all who are working on the formation process which has taken years to come to fruition!

Mark your calendars NOW! The first Men’s Retreat will be October 15-18, 2026 and the Women’s Retreat will tentatively be June 3-6, 2027.

Continue to look for updates as they become available. If anyone has attended an ACTS retreat, please feel free to let us know at [email protected].

PRO-LIFE QUOTE

“God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.”

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
For Sunday, May 10, 2026

My Dear Parishioners,

Today is Mother’s Day and normally I would be with family at a crawfish and crab boil. My brother Mark and his wife Sandra have hosted us for many Mother’s Days. We throw crabs in the pot because that was Momma’s favorite seafood.

One of the most memorable scenes in THE PASSION OF CHRIST is when Mary follows Jesus along his way to the cross. When he fell the first time, there was a throwback memory of Jesus falling as a toddler and Mary dropped what she was carrying and rushed to his side to pick him up. She felt the same way 31 years later.

A mother remains a mother and her heart hurts when the child hurts even though she is 99 and he is 79.

This is steadfast love, a’ la God’s love. And for that, one can only be grateful.

So, to all of you who are mothers, literally and figuratively,
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY and know of our esteem and gratitude.

(Rev. Msgr.) Keith J. DeRouen, Pastor
