As many churches of all faiths are suffering declining memberships, some having to close their doors permanently, so our congregation has suffered as well. We have reached the point that we are no longer able to remain a viable congregation. We have neither the membership nor the financial stability to remain open. Therefore, our last service will be December 28th.
It has been a "good run" of 71 years, having been active in Opelousas since 1954 in our first location on Bertheaud Ave., until 1967 when we moved into a newly built property, our present location on S. Union St.
Our few remaining members will re-locate to area Church of Christ congregations that they feel are a good "fit" for them and continue to worship "in Spirit and in Truth" as we feel we have done thus far.
We ask for your prayers as we begin this next step in our walk with the Lord and worship in the 1st century pattern given us in the New Testament. We thank you all who have given us encouragement on this page and pray for you all as well. We will keep the page open for comments until Jan. 3rd. God bless 🙏😇
