Concordia College Wisconsin (CUW) located in Mequon on Lake Michigan has nearly 8,000 students enrolled for the fall of 2014. This year's graduation was especially exciting as it included the university's first Pharmacy School graduating class. Sixty-seven students, dubbed the "Genesis Class" when the Pharmacy School opened in 2010, received Pharm. degrees duri
ng the commencement ceremony. Our church is also busy in the Dominican Republic. A mission team established a group home for the physical and spiritual care of those who are developmentally challenged. Brian and Jeanette Keller, members of Brookfield Lutheran Church in our South Wisconsin District, are serving the Lord as missionaries in this venture. In the fall of 2011, a new church that Brian Keller designed and volunteer servant groups helped to build in Las Americas was completed and dedicated. In 2012, a school was repaired and a playground with play equipment and a volley ball court was finished. We have opportunities to join those volunteers in the Dominican Republic. Our LCMS churches in Wisconsin regularly send volunteers, teachers, builders and helpers. These volunteer mission groups go to help build churches and group homes in the Dominican Republic. If you are interested in joining a team, or helping organize one from Shepherd of the Hills, please call the LCMS South Wisconsin District office missions department, (414) 464-8101, or e-mail Katie Ziegler at [email protected]
