Big News from Wisconsin Right to Life! Earlier this morning, three pro-life bills were introduced in the Wisconsin State Legislature:
The Shield the Vulnerable Act (LRB 4527), introduced by Senator Testin and Representative Dittrich, would ban abortions that are performed solely based on the s*x, race, or disability diagnosis of the unborn child. Deciding who is deserving of life based on these inherited characteristics is discrimination and must be stopped. The Shield the Vulnerable Act would put an end to such discrimination, and emphasize the intrinsic value of all unborn children.
The Prenatal Diagnosis Information Act (LRB 4287), also introduced by Senator Testin and Representative Dittrich, would require the physician who administered the prenatal or postnatal test that identified a congenital condition, also provide the parent, or expectant parent, with education resources on that congenital condition and supportive resources that are available to them. Each child’s life is valuable and worthy of protection, especially those who are diagnosed with a congenital condition, such as down syndrome. When faced with these diagnoses, parents can face uncertainty and questions and are in need of support and resources.
A Woman’s Right to Know Act (LRB 4539), introduced by Senator Kapenga and Speaker Vos, would require physicians to explain that women have a small opportunity of time in which the effects of the first pill given in a chemical abortion can be counteracted should they change their mind in the abortion process and chose life for their unborn child. This legislation also enhances the induced abortion reporting requirements, which would provide much needed transparency regarding abortion in Wisconsin. Abortion effects women and their unborn children in irreversible ways, and can lead to lifelong consequences. Women have a right to transparency in healthcare, and support when they are making these lifechanging decisions.
We urge you to reach out to your state Representatives and Senators, and ask them to support these life-saving bills!
