What do we do when our faith feels thin and we are tempted to give up? The book of Hebrews draws our eyes to Jesus. He is God’s final word of hope to us—greater than Moses, the one who leads us into God’s rest. He is our great High Priest, who brings us near to God through his blood. This ten week study will call us to fix our eyes on Jesus and persevere through trials as we seek the lasting city whose architect and builder is God. All of us have ideas about God. But do we really know what we believe about God and why? What are the primary doctrines of the faith and why is it important that we know them? We will spend significant time teaching and articulating the major doctrines of the Christian faith as we see that doctrine is foundational for all disciples of Jesus Christ. Join us for this 11 week class as we grow to know God, learn how to profess our beliefs, and understand the theology of what it means to be a Christian. CHANGED LIVES IN TAIWAN
A Salt Company Global Story
This summer, seven members from Citylight’s Salt Company college ministry spent two months in Taiwan partnering with a local church to share the gospel with university students. More than 150,000 students live in the city they served, yet only 3% of the population identifies as evangelical Christian, a number that continues to decline. The Salt team spent their summer building friendships with Taiwanese students, inviting them to study the Bible, and learning the language and culture. Nick and Siana Wilson have spent the last year serving with Love Justice in South Africa, an incredible ministry that equips and empowers the local church to intercept human trafficking victims at border crossings before they are trafficked. The Wilsons are back in town for the next month and we’re excited to host a Global Coffee to hear an update on all that they’ve seen Jesus doing in and through their ministry. Meet Lillian Hydeen, West CLS Resident
By the time Lillian Hydeen was in fourth grade, she had her life planned out. She was going to be a teacher. She would live close to her family and be surrounded by faithful friends well into adulthood. All of these things were good, and they made Lillian feel secure and confident. She was ready for the future! What Lillian didn't plan for was change. Plans change, and so do people. That's life. But for Lillian, it felt like the end of the world. We had a great time at the West Students Kick-off yesterday! Tons of 6th–12th graders came out for food, hangout time, lawn games, team challenges, and lots of fun.
