THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE.
Whoever came to our Outreach Pantry, took food, ate it, and then decided it was acceptable to throw the empty packages on the ground, leave them on the picnic table, and scatter trash around the pantry — THIS NEEDS TO STOP.
This pantry is here to help people in our community. Food is purchased, donated, stocked, organized, and maintained by people who genuinely care about others. The very least we should be able to expect is enough respect to pick up your own trash.
There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for eating food from the pantry and then tossing the wrappers and containers on the ground for someone else to clean up.
And beyond that, these are church grounds. This is God’s house. Whether you attend here or not, this property should be treated with respect. Leaving garbage scattered around the church grounds is disrespectful not only to the people who work to maintain this ministry, but also to the place that has been set aside for the Lord’s work.
Our sign says:
TAKE WHAT YOU NEED.
LEAVE WHAT YOU CAN.
Apparently, we need to add:
AND TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU.
We should not have to walk around the pantry, under the picnic table, beside the building, through the gravel, and along the walkway picking up someone else’s garbage.
If this pantry helps you, please respect it. Respect the church grounds. Respect God’s house. Respect the volunteers. Respect the people who donate. And respect the other families in this community who depend on this pantry too.
DO BETTER. This ministry is here to be a blessing to our community — not a place for someone to eat, throw their garbage on the ground, and walk away.
